    Very good point.

I did too,as long as he is playing well and in the right mind set. I hate seeing him though when he's losing and complaining heavily,as he has in previous matches.

SVB had definitely been on a roll. That might have something to do with it but we might not ever know. There could be a number of reasons:girlfriend, burnt out or lost motivation,or another personal reason.

I wouldn't bet against him. He's still very much near the top of the pros.

I haven't heard anything about Mika lately. Has he been playing in many tournaments? Has he hit a dry spell? He was winning tournaments left and right or at least placing well but lately I haven't seen any headlines about him.

What was your first pool hall?

The first place I started playing wasn't technically a pool hall. I started playing casually in a skating rink when I was in my early teens. Then I quit for a few years and picked up the game seriously right after high school. I played in a place called Big Dawg Billiards on nothing but bar...

    what is the best joint???

I used to play with a variety of steel joints with various pin sizes but IMO nothing I have tried so far hits better than a radial pin with a wood facing. Once again IMO,my Daytons hit better than any of the Pechauer,Schon,or Joss cues I have owned. But that's just my 2 cents.

    Magic Rack

Thanks for the input. I figured the player I mentioned probably didn't use the rack enough and might have been misinformed, hence his statement. How do you store your racks when you take them somewhere?

    Magic Rack

I just ordered one from Seyberts and I can't wait to try it out, based on the consensus on this thread. What's the best way to store the rack though? A good local player said he used one while he was in Florida a few weeks ago and that once it was bent a little it was hard to get the rack back to...

why the big diff between 8 ball vs 9 ?

I wish the push-out rule would be instituted in APA. When I asked my local league operator why the push-out isn't in APA, he says that many feel it gives the better players a little more edge, which is BS IMO. Anybody can be taught how to make a good push out. It sure beats giving BIH to a lower...

why the big diff between 8 ball vs 9 ?

They really don't play better at 9 ball, just APA 9 ball where the points scoring system is in place.

why the big diff between 8 ball vs 9 ?

In all honesty, 9 ball APA is geared more towards the lower-ranked players so that they have a better chance to win than at 8 ball. For example, let's say a S/L 7 is playing a S/L 2 in 8 ball;both are at the very ends of the handicap spectrum. Even though the 2 only has to win 2 games to the 7's...

Has anyone ever played at Tara Billiards?

Cool sounds like my kinda place. Did you ever play in the tournament? I also heard that during the night of the tournaments, a break and run contest is held where you put up $5 and if you can break and run on one of their 9 footers, you win $100. That sounds a little too good to be true though...

Has anyone ever played at Tara Billiards?

I just got wind of a handicapped barbox tournament on Friday nights at Tara Billiards in Jonesboro,GA and I am interested in playing in the tournament. Has anyone ever played there or know someone who has played there? If so, describe the place. According to the details I was given, the entry...

So i got a letter in the mail to play in US amateur championships....

Oh I'm definitely playing in the qualifier if I'm able to. I turn 25 the week before the qualifier so if I win, I can consider it a late birthday gift. :D

So i got a letter in the mail to play in US amateur championships....

Thanks for that piece of advice. I'm been working a lot on my mental game for the past few months and I think I've come a long way. I don't get distracted by things I can't control nor do I get angry when I miss or my opponent gets a lucky roll. I also play smarter by not attempting crazy shots...

    8 on break odds

I don't know the odds of making 3 consecutive 8 on the breaks but it has to be close to astronomical. Not trying to take away from what you did but IMO the 8 on the break for a win is ridiculous. I believe the 8 should be the last intended ball pocketed. In APA league play I see good players get...

So i got a letter in the mail to play in US amateur championships....

I realize you have to be a very solid player to win the national championships but I would be happy to even win a local qualifier. Can anyone who has played at a qualifier at Mr. Cue's II in Atlanta comment on the speed of the players at a qualifier? I'm probably going to give it a try...

So i got a letter in the mail to play in US amateur championships....

I'm seriously considering playing in a qualifier at Mr. Cue's II this year. Will there be players like Paul Song and other top tier local players in the event or will the players not quite be up to that speed?
