That's strong because Efren was at the top of his game. I always thought they had to off the bet because they were both playing in the tournament the next day. Funny story...Red heard they were going to play after the tournament shut down for the day, so he decided to charge $5 a head for...

Thanks. I never heard Cannonball's real name. He was before my time, but Phillip was my buddy. I wish he was still around. I always thought his last name was Hyatt, but I don't know where I got that from. I took a guy named Richard Parish from Starkville, MS down to the Big Apple in Groves...

I remember seeing Jeremy Jones at tournaments. I think he was a big-time one pocket player.

It's been a long time, but I think he was tall and slender. I don't remember his playing barefoot, but he had really pale skin and white hair like an old man, although he was young.

I don't remember Duke, but I don't think I ever played at Cue and Cushion. Mostly LeCue and Goofy's Game Room, a few Slick Willie's. Don't know Chinese Billy, but he sounds like he was cut from the same cloth as Scottie Townsend. The more Scotty drank, the better he played. I watched Scottie...

Which Way Do You Play This Shot?

The draw shot is the easiest and has the most room for error.

JJ? Do you know his full name? I always thought of Earl as a transplant, but he did make his name in Houston.

    WPA Bans 245 Players

Sounds like the players are under some kind of indentured servitude. Sounds like the feud between the PGA and LIV golf. It also reminds me of the time the WPGA tried to make proficiency in English a requirement for playing in their tournaments. Dumbest thing I ever heard. If the players (ALL...

Efren Reyes bizarre social media fans.....

Excuse me, but I used to practice a lot of kick shots. I was practicing the Z-shot before Efren made it against Earl. It is amazing how accurate you can get at kicking balls in if you put in the practice. The Z-shot was not luck when Efren played it. I can assure you that at his level of...

    What is your HIGH RUN?

Same as you, 5 racks of 9-ball and 3 racks of 8-ball, 33 balls in straight pool, 7 points in 3-cushion billiards. Had to keep my day job.

    What is your HIGH RUN?

That's not what he said. You have to read between the lines. He won 17 games in a row, but not without letting his opponent out of the seat.

P.S. Also ask him if he remembered his glasses:) I never played on bar tables, but he always used to tell me he couldn't play on the big tables because he forgot his glasses. We never played for big money, but I always paid a little for my lessons.

Thanks a million for the updates. I'm glad to know that Little John is still going strong. I wish I had been introduced to the golf game back then. I probably could have learned a lot from him. Next time you talk with him, ask if he remembers "Slim", an electrical engineer from Lake Charles.

Did he ever play banks against Bugs Rucker? One day an older guy told me I had a stroke like Cannonball, but I wasn't sure what he meant. Was there something unique about his stroke?

Sorry to hear that he passed. First met him at the old LeCue on Fannin and Rusk. I was in my early 20's and had no idea who he was. I lost a few bucks to him, and my cue stick. It wasn't much money, I think he was just amusing himself because nobody else would play him. Every time I saw him...
