Anybody Still Watch The Sands Reno DVDs?

Just wondering how many - if any - of you folks still watch the DVDs of matches from the Sands Regency Tournament out in Reno back in the 1990s? I still watch them on a fairly regular basis and perhaps might even buy some more DVDs from the Sands in the near future. r/DCP

Rethinking the Derby City Classic ...

What finally made Johnston City fizzle out back in the day?

    It's Been 3 And 1/2 Months Now

Just wanted to keep everybody updated. Somebody asked about the update in the other thread so here you go. It's my understanding ETA is about three weeks away. I just wonder if the Derby City and all of this snow and ice and bitter cold weather could delay things. Plus I hope my lane is free...

I'm not sure of the specifics but there appears to be another round of winter weather coming later this week. Stay tuned...........

    Derby city so few Pros

Did some of the pros stay away because of the heavy snow? I've got about 10 inches here in SW Indiana.

Safe travels to those attending the Derby City Classic this year

Yes, still King. In spite of going to class basketball back in the fall of 1997. And yes, the IU-phoric comment above is quite appropriate. Indiana became alot more football conscious when #18 arrived in Indianapolis back in 1998.

    WNT Legends

That table they are playing on. It sure seems like the balls roll a great deal. It looks so fast. Most shots they are stroking so easy. It appears to play so much better and faster than my Gold Crown IV. Of course we have been all through that many times. r/DCP

Safe travels to those attending the Derby City Classic this year

I'm monitoring all of this because I live in SW Indiana. It could affect our high school basketball games this weekend. I'd say if you are going to the Derby you better get there by early-mid day on Friday and get in your hotel room. Stay safe everyone. Looking forward to updates. r/DCP

Looking to purchase a pool table for my home. Need some advice.

Will the floor in your 2nd floor support a 1,000 pound pool table? I've had my 9-foot Gold Crown IV and soon will have a 9-foot Diamond Professional in my upstairs garage apartment. Having said that, where the table is going has 6-7 extra floor joists installed. Never had a problem with the...

    Breaking - 1990s vs 2026

Ok, so, I might start breaking with the 9B on the spot and see if I can't draw the CB off the rail. Can't get any worse results than I have now. Oh, by the way, three weeks or so........

    No Gambling Sign

Ok, so, one of my hobbies is that I like to watch old TV shows from my youth. One of the old TV shows that I like to watch late at night is Barnaby Jones. Remember Buddy Ebsen played the older, milk drinking private investigator in Los Angeles. I was watching an episode last night and Barnaby...

    Breaking - 1990s vs 2026

I guess I need clarification with regards to the 9B break shot. On all my Accu-Stats videos from the Sands Regency Tournament back in the 1990s and the U.S. Open videos from the 1990s and from what people told me back in the day it seems like the plan was to squat the CB. Leave it somewhere...

Please, for the love of God, stop snowing!

My senior year of high school, January of 1977, we went to school 3.5 days the entire month. It just kept snowing and snowing. After a few days when you thought we could go back it would snow another 4-5 inches. The back/side roads were snow covered and slick pretty much the entire month. I...

Jerry Briesath Life Story Interview Parts 3 & 4 Are Now Live on “Legends of the Cue”

I've never taken a lesson from Jerry. Nor have I heard him talk about this. So, having said this, is Jerry one of those instructors that advocates rolling balls down the table to make you a much improved, really good player? r/DCP

Was pool better 50 years ago?

I didn't have time to read through this entire thread so perhaps this has already been mentioned. On one of the Accu-Stats DVDs from the Sands Regency Tournament in Reno back in the 1990s Buddy Hall was talking about how players of today don't really have the flair like they used to have. The...

Fedor Gorst - looking for action in Louisville, KY tomorrow. If you could - would you?

I'd pay $100 to play Fedor in a race to 11 in 9B. He's not going to run 11 racks on you. He might string together a couple of 4 packs. But you are going to get your chance to play a top pro. And feel the pressure of people watching. Which should make your league or whatever a little less...

Boy, if my back wasn't so sore and it wasn't right in the middle of high school basketball season.........

    French Lick Resort

The 1924 PGA Championship was played on the Donald Ross Course in French Lick. It's often referred to as the Hill Course. The greens are extremely hilly and undulating. Three putts are the norm. Walter Hagen won that year.
