    They are rolling bad when....

The cloth plays both slow and fast, whichever hurts you more on a particular shot

    If Mike Sigel Wins!

I don’t know but I do remember the first time I used a forum I did the same thing. And the whole thing just looked like a mess of posts to me, I didn’t understand that replying to one brought it to the top of some page. I like the occasional blast from the past but it has caused me some...

Rack experts, what are they doing?

If someone keeps rubbing at the 1 ball then looking at the rack and rubbing at it again they’re likely trying to make a gap, and definitely are if they’re using a template. If it’s ten ball or 8B, a tiny gap between the second two balls will dictate their path to the side pockets. Supposedly.

Playing with 20 year old balls versus newer balls

I hate using old (worn out) balls. I feel it right away. Like there is more friction between the cue ball and object ball when they collide. If you use the same set all the time sure you can get used to them but I like nice polished billiard balls myself. I usually bring me own balls to the hall

    May "Caption This" photo

I’ve spotted land, sir! Do you see any pool tables? Or... Wow these Littman lights are bright!

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I joined a TAP league the other day. I was at the pool hall practicing and the owner was trying to put together a BB 8B team and next thing I know I’m filling out paperwork. I had my first match Monday and won pretty easily. They started me out as a 5. I don’t know how high tap goes but it felt...

    Shaw 714 DVD

You never know what kind of weird stuff ends up valuable. Maybe Shaw will somehow distinguish himself in WW3 and end up ruling a fiefdom and eventually a continent. His scientists work out cold fusion, interstellar travel, a cure for OB skid...he becomes a worldwide icon and some kid in 2152...

Wooden Rack - The Secret Art of Rack Mechanics

THE LACES WERE IN!!!! Remember that one? I don’t think there is a satisfactory answer to the break in pool. At least in 9 ball pool. Perfect rack every time we’ve seen it can be a little too predictable, using a triangle can sometimes take longer than a rack with a few safeties in it, or it...

Who are the 'Old Schoolers' of AZ

I will know when I joined shortly, once I click on my name here. Don’t think I can claim old school status just yet. I joined when I started playing pool to find out what I didn’t know that I didn’t know yet. It worked. Lots of good info here when you search and plenty of good conversations to...

Wooden Rack - The Secret Art of Rack Mechanics

Whenever I hit too low on the CB during a 9b break, I usually still make the wing ball but also some other ball that basically races it into that bottom corner pocket. I’ll often make one in the side as well. Sounds good, but I rarely end up with a shot on the 1B with that low CB strike. Just...

One complaint I don't care for

Haha. I like that move. I am likely one of the top ten 4 leaf clover finders in the world. I don’t know if such a thing is tracked but I see them everywhere. I’ve even caught one from the car once while in traffic. I pull at least one every day that I try at work and I hand them out to...

    SVB/Mika Game 20

For me the decision between triangle and template doesn’t even take into consideration the minor issue of the template possibly rolling a ball off a tiny bit during the break. It’s just another part of the randomness of the break. I love the templates, because I rarely get to play on new cloth...

    Stroke limit/skill apex

I’m with you on the relaxed version being much mo better. I’ve been playing pool 7 years now and for the first 5 I had my own table and I played thousands of hours against the table, sometimes the ghost, mostly just playing both sides and figuring stuff out. Some drills for a while which I...

Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

I played a set last night in the box at my pool hall, the tight table stream room and they use the dreaded aramith black set of balls. I had this thread in my mind the whole time 😂 maybe why I lost 5-11 lol. I sought out the 4 and 5 ball each time after the break and made sure to constantly...

    You make the call

A plastic platform maybe 20” square or something, with holes throughout the whole thing and a bunch of pegs you can lock into the holes. You change the peg position depending on the ball layout beneath it and use it to bridge off of when playing one pocket and you’re tree topped. It would be...

    Purple Five Ball Question

I would love this so much. I’m always harping on how pretty snooker looks. With a solid colored ball it appears to just glide into the pocket. Snooker has been successful I think because of how simple it is but how there is still so much game involved in each frame - and how beautiful the...

    Purple Five Ball Question

I play mostly in two places. At one spot: the sports bar / league hall - I’d switch out the balls and give them back the tray when I’m done. The next person to get the balls for the 9’ would almost assuredly be a couple friends that bang balls semi often or a couple that does the same. They...

What’s up with the 1 ball? I don’t recall it moving around like that

Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

I will sign as well. I despise the purple 5 ball, in real life and watching on the tube. It was a terrible idea and remains so. That’s not an attack on whoever made the decision, everyone makes mistakes and has dumb thoughts, especially the true chef, but doubling down on a mistake once known...
