    Identify this GC model???

Here is an assembly on a base of 7075 aluminum I machined this weekend. The paper in the lower right corner shows a spot of gray where I swiped a 2" path with my thumb and light pressure. I cleaned it with 99% alcohol a few minutes before the photo.

Yeah, but the question is how big do you need to bore to remove the entire original insert.

His original post described why he wants them long. He wants to make a billet that he can cut into shorter pieces that are at finished diameter.

    Identify this GC model???

Considering that the trim is almost definitely Type II anodize at 1/10,000-5/10,000" thick, you are correct. The anodize on the trim is not, 'Hard' anodize, which means Type III. You know this, obviously. Working in industry designing a ton of aluminum parts for huge scale CNC automation...

    Identify this GC model???

Cool story, but aluminum anodize absolutely wears off. The wear is accelerated with exposure to UV, acids (which are present in many cleaners and in hand oils). The anodize on my trim came off relatively easy by hand sanding with 400grit, but I used the correct type of abrasive, and...

    Identify this GC model???

Yeah, the clear anodize wears off, and the oxide transfers to everything.

    My first Gold Crown refurbish

I'd suggest that it is more the type of paint. I shoot my wood projects with automotive paints, they just lay down so much nicer. I used Summit brand paint on my El Camino, and on my GCI.

If you are just trying to turn a 0.525" rod, what you want is a traveling steady rest.

    Identify this GC model???

Thank-you. The table was missing one diamond when I bought it, and I wasn't planning on saving them. I printed new circular inlays out of copper-filled PLA with black diamonds inset. Keeps with the theme of the table colors. I painted the rails, then re-cut the pockets on my mill. This was...

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

What @skor is saying is that it is possible to create a cnc pocket that results in a nearly perfectly sharp point. There are at least two ways of doing this. One is not truly full CNC, as it would be for person to hand-cut the sharp angles with the sharp instrument of his choice. Another...

    Identify this GC model???

The Formica can be worked and painted the same way as automotive body work is done. My GCI had several cigarette burns, so I sanded it, filled the burns and dents, then painted. I'm not a huge fan of wood grain Formica to begin with, so I was happy to have something different.

    Group Pool Dilema

It's a problem that will work itself out. If too many people don't have fun because there are too many people, some of those people will stop coming. Maybe some of them will form groups for other nights. Maybe many of them are only there because it is an easy way to socialize. Maybe set up a...

I've done it both ways, if your setup is good, it makes no difference.

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

I haven't seen a joss with sharp points in a while. Not claiming to be an expert on them, only saying that all of them I have seen are inlaid, rounded points.

    Funny pic/gif thread...

Pretty narrow view. Some sitcoms have more meaningful drama than most dramas. Watch some Scrubs, specifically, 'My Old Lady', or 'My Screw Up'. If you didn't know, Scrubs was on at the same time as, 'ER'. I had medical student and doctor friends who said that Scrubs was the more realistic.

    Another Cueball Training Device/Product!!

It won't even diagnose the underlying issue, and could potentially worsen it because it isn't a true test of anything that matters on a pool table.

    Another Cueball Training Device/Product!!

I guess that raises the question: If you are consistently making balls in tight pockets, can you have a 'garbage' stroke and not be shooting straight? I can't do the whole 'shoot between two objects' thing to save my life, but that is because I don't have what I consider to be a useful aim...
