WRISTS - The "hidden power catalyst" of a great stroke or "just along for the ride"?

In pretty much every sport where one has to swing or throw something, velocity and power comes from loose grips. Your body can't move as quickly or fluidly when you're tight and rigid. In pool, with the cue, there's also the matter of energy transfer from stick to ball. The tighter your grip...

You would have to ask CSI. My guess would be later this year.

Fundamentals - Playing From The Rail

Pidge, this is a superb post/thread. You may want to consider adding a pic for each of your examples. What has helped me the most, in addition to the various insights Pidge offers, is spending about as much time practicing off the rail as I do from say the head spot. I also practice...

Favorite RV Parks with active Billiards Group

Many years ago I played at a couple KOA campgrounds. Never played anyone outside my own family though. I figured game rooms, pool tables especially at those places were long gone by now. Never would have imagined pool tournaments. I have a 1971 VW campmobile (bus). It's my favorite way to...

Rack Inspection vs Toilet Seat Inspection

I wrap my hands with toilet paper like a boxer first. I'm petitioning to get it into the Olympics.

Rack Inspection vs Toilet Seat Inspection

That's I always choose the handicap stalls with the rails on each side of the walls. That way I can use my arms to support myself and hover my butt over the toilet seat without actually touching it.

How I Met Eric, a lesson learned

real life > virtual reality I've been on BBS and forums since about '97 for just about any hobby or interest and I've personally met many folks from cyberspace. Your experience is very much like most I've encountered and why I think people need to unplug themselves and experience real life...

Very interesting. I like that Gelett Burges quote.

How long have you been playing and..

Have yet to reach my potential. I've been playing (regularly/seriously) maybe 5 years total. The first 4 years were between the ages of 14 and 18. That was over 20 years ago. Although I'd play once a year or so with my cousin, I didn't start getting back into really playing until about this...

Money in Pool - there should be none?

I agree. All (or most of) it's participants (not just players) tend to prey on each other and end up cannibalizing itself. That's the structure needed that you and Robin have been talking about. I agree about that too. But I don't think the organization needs to happen at the professional...

Money in Pool - there should be none?

Just about every sport is currently looking for global revenue because numbers are falling for all of them in the US. A lot of dynamic reasons why...changing atmospheres to just sum it up simply. But the point I think you're missing, Banks, is that no sport, no game was originally intended be...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Out of 14 "A" teams in our bar league, our team took 5th place. Not too shabby, especially considering we had a couple true beginners that was almost like taking a forfeit every game there for a while. But everyone improved since the beginning of the season, and everyone had a lot of fun in...

Money in Pool - there should be none?

Everybody wants a trophy. What's that supposed to mean, you did something? I don't need a trophy or award or recognition. I do this sh!t because I love to do this sh!t. Take money away from pool, and the only people that will remain are the ones that play merely for the love of the game...

    Crazy Tournament Idea

I would play. For me, it doesn't take much. This structure does seem more fitting for a league though.

    Aiming System

I don't think you guys understand. Professionally playing those games is hard because the COMPETITION IS TOUGH...not that the games are inherently tough to play. There's a difference and you guys are arguing the wrong damn point.

    Aiming System

I hear ya, and I agree with what you're saying. What I'm saying, and what the question was in regard to is the execution of the specific skills for each game, not the opponents. If you hit a tennis ball against a wall so it comes back, how hard is that to execute a return? That's the...

    Aiming System

In the sports you mentioned, the difficulties/challenges reside with your opponent and their abilities, not the game itself. Hitting a tennis ball over the net into that huge square is not as difficult as pool or golf. Sorry.

Money in Pool - there should be none?

What he means is that its not for the masses. To accept the life long journey of a cue sport, which is infinite, is akin to a path of enlightenment or elevated existence. To always, no matter how good you get, know you're not as good as you can be, and never will, but still continue on...

    Aiming System

Both are extremely prone to error. Errors are only caused by the person executing play...not the opponent.
