    The Hustler

I have been thinking the same thing, that another "hustler" movie should be done because there are so many incredible stories beyond what has been shown. I also think it should be 'seedy.' There is a certain individual (who is still alive) whose life story seems chockful of stories for a movie...

    Spotting the opponent a ball

Cool, had no idea that is how it worked but that certainly makes sense as a decent way to handicap.

    Spotting the opponent a ball

Sorry, can't find answer. If you spot your opponent a ball in a game, what does that mean? It's a form of handicapping like in golf, but how does it work?

    Best game to watch

What is a ring game? What does no safes mean, how can you 'disallow' a safe? Curious about this game.

    Posting more,playing less

What does 'fed cloth' mean? Hmmm... or do you mean red cloth. Perhaps you could spot people more to keep their interest.

    Best game to watch

What do you think is the most enjoyable pool game to watch? What do you think the reasons are? And is it largely because it is your favorite game to play? Do you have a different answer for watching a game live versus watching on t.v. or video?

Open Hand Bridge vs Closed Bridge Discussion

Just a few days ago, someone mentioned to me that Allison Fisher always uses an open bridge and that surprised me. I've since watched some videos and she uses closed bridge when breaking and when her bridge hand is on the rail but that's pretty much it.

Suggest The Title For A Pool Book

"Pool: How To Get Good Enough To Beat Even The Donald At Your Local Bar." He doesn't drink but maybe he shoots pool, he plays golf, lol.

    Skid/throw question (Strickland match)

I was watching an Earl Strickland vs. Chang 9-ball match from about 2003 and Earl missed a ball on a cut shot. You'd think he should've made it. Upon replay I noticed that the object ball did not start rolling immediately, it slid across the table and then rolled, missing the pocket entirely...

    Clean pool balls make difference

I have no idea what my pool balls are... came with 1974 Brunswick table that my dad bought and now I have it... but they have never been cleaned until now! When I soaked the pool balls in bleach/water, "stuff" started oozing off within seconds. I let them soak a few minutes and then scrubbed...

How to shoot ball on rail

Missing this too much and even after practicing different methods, no revelation. Say ball is touching the cushion and cue ball is on a 15-45 degree angle (or even more severe angle). Say intended pocket is to the right. Do you stroke right english and strike cushion just to left of object ball...

    Simonis 860 or 860HR

I have assumed that Simonis green is the closest to the old 'standard' color of 40-50 years ago, is this correct? All of the youtube videos I watch of tournaments, they are playing on tournament blue color, which looks nice. I told a friend I was considering it, he said he doesn't like to play...

    Simonis 860 or 860HR

It's so confusing! One guy says HR is faster and another guy says no it's not. Which is it? What would you buy, the HR is not much more. Casual play home table, not tons of play like in a pool hall. One person play plus an occasional gathering. Table is 1974 Brunswick Windsor 8 ft. It seems it...

    How to find a game

I regret to report that it's out then. Now a senior, I am very sensitive to smoke these days. I haven't even thought of that. Are there any non-smoking pool halls anywhere?

    How to find a game

Curious, are you inferring that the gamblers will be anxious to play a sucker? I really am not looking to gamble but I don't have any problem gambling smaller amounts in a fair match. But if they're local and I'm not, it probably wouldn't be fair! I have no idea how much gambling goes on.

    How do you improve?

In your defense, the greatest golf instructors of all time were not great golfers, but most were/are pretty dang good. Good instructors have a lot of knowledge, yes, but importantly, are very observant. And good at communicating. Plus, being likeable and not jerks lol.

    How to find a game

If you meant "IN Nashville where you want to go," I have no idea, not from there but will spend quite a bit of time there. I have spent a lot of time there in the past but didn't shoot pool, know my way around pretty well. But the question could pertain to any city, curious about the general...

    How to find a game

Any tips for going to a distant city and finding somebody to shoot with other than joining an organized league? Such as Nashville, TN. If you show up at a small bar with your own cue and look for a game, some badass could think you are a hustler from the getgo and bad vibes could abound. I don't...

How to level table with screw adjustments

Scott, thanks, but I did not contact the instructor, he is just about as far from me in Louisiana as one can be. I am in the other end of the state. If there is one in Shreveport, that's close. There is a cue builder in Shreveport, I thought I would ask him, he has a pool hall. Haven't made it...
