    'Meucci Cue Archives'....RIP

A few very skeptical people on the Meucci Facebook groups have reported that they have indeed gotten cues back from repair in weeks rather than months, and that customer service has improved dramatically. It seems the new management does appear to be making meaningful changes. I've always been...

    Your favorite pin & why?

I like Uniloc because after I lose horribly, I want as few seconds as possible between the money ball dropping and me walking out the door.

    Hard tip recs

I believe the Thoroughbred medium-hard tips are ideal for your purpose. They are inexpensive and very high quality. I'm not sure why people are recommending LePro and Triangle, since these are not layered tips as you requested.

8-Ball "Official Rules" in Contrast with "Bar Rules"

Dr. Dave, your example shot at 4:20 is the bar rules nightmare scenario. If that occurred in a real game, it would immediately cause a large-scale bar fight probably resulting in at least one fatality. You are clearly a billiards sadist to conceptualize such a shot, even for science.

ZAN tips must be REALLY good !!! WTF

Me neither, but a couple people in a Facebook group I'm in seemed to agree that it played better after being broken in. I've played a few dozen racks with it, and it feels very firm to me. Moreso than any other modern tip I've used.

    Funniest Shane vs Corey's break

I've heard people say "rack mechanics" like they're fine tuning a carburetor, or something.

ZAN tips must be REALLY good !!! WTF

I like to try out a lot of different tips, and I have a Zan Hybrid Max on a Revo 12.4 30". I don't play with this shaft often enough to make a fair judgement, but the tip feels very hard. I recently read on a forum that it takes these tips awhile to break in, but that they soften up quite a...

BAR RULES and DIRTY POOL – Why Official Rules are Important

I disagree with the statement that bar rules have been working for people as long as you can remember. As long as I can remember, inconsistent, ambiguous bar rules have caused confusion and conflict up to and including murder.

BAR RULES and DIRTY POOL – Why Official Rules are Important

Tonight while playing at a bar at which I'm a regular, I played a guy I'd never seen before. It was my table, and my break, and I politely introduced myself and asked him if he preferred to play "make it take it" or open after the break (I honestly didn't care). He frowned, seemingly insulted...

Pool Table in a 128 Million Dollar Mega Mansion

If I had that kind of money, I'd have a nice little apartment that I'd never see and I'd live the rest of my life in a different luxury hotel room every week. I suppose that's why I don't have that kind of money...

BAR RULES and DIRTY POOL – Why Official Rules are Important

The ironic part of the ubiquitous "make it take it" break rule is that most bangers strongly believe the rule favors the breaker. Even when playing under normal rules, these same players will pick the suit with fewer balls every time without ever looking at position. It's not even worth trying...

    Headphones

The social aspect of pool is important to me, and I find it rude when my opponent wears headphones, but I understand some people feel differently. I do like music while I play, though, and it almost doesn't matter to me which kind. I just hate it when the place is silent. Even worse, I can't...

    What’s wrong with me?

The differences in deflection really don't start to become noticeable unless applying side spin. Shots involving draw and follow won't feel much different.
