The Biggest reason Lower level players can't improve ????

IME, there are three main obstacles for novice players trying to take the next step. One, never taking the time to learn and then building a foundation upon sound fundamentals in both mechanics and technique. Two, only practicing things they want to practice, or practicing too infrequently...

How long have you been on the same league team?

Got to be about ten years now.

    double elimination strategy

Generally speaking I guess there's two strategies: One, you stay in the winner's bracket, play fewer games total, and you have that second loss in your pocket if you make it to the finals, and whoever you meet from the loser's bracket has to beat you twice. Two, lose early, play more games...

    Another Gimmick Or Legit?

It's only $35 so probably not.

What is a good break cue?

A straight stick with a decent tip on it. Never seen a stick that made anyone a better breaker. You learn to be a better breaker, then the brand of the stick doesn't matter.

Bar leagues how busy and how loud?

Sooo, after you se them the first time they aren't 'new' anymore. Then what? Go to a different bar that only has 5 people in it? You realize that bars with only 5 people in them aren't going to be around very long.

Bar leagues how busy and how loud?

Pretty loud and pretty busy most league nights. Not Saturday night busy, but I've played in a SRO environment many times. Don't notice it anymore. I always laugh at players that complain about noise. Seriously, it's not golf. We're playing in a bar, and playing for what amounts to less...

Is there such thing as a cheaper table

Sorry can't help with finding a cheap wood table. But I will say that I've never played a wood/slate table that played any good at all. But then I've only played on a few, maybe 4 or 5 ever.

the pool scene in the Covid world

Up until the state closed the bars/poolhalls in AZ, I was just playing like normal. No mask, no gloves, no face shield. Just played like it was 2019. Miraculously I didn't get sick.

Two kick combos in one game

Nice job. Sometimes you get lucky. Always relish those when they happen.

    Pool ball Carrying Case Suggestions...

Wow, you must play on some really really crappy tables. I mean, I've seen some really bad tables, or seen some really badly kept balls, but it's been decades since I've seen anything where I'd seriously consider bringing my own set of balls. And I just simply never went back to any of those...

My 9 ball game ...from one extreme to the other

I think you're overthinking it. Honestly the break shouldn't make or break your game consistently against the level of players you're facing. I think more than anything you probably got unlucky and overthought yourself into losing. It happens. I know I've done it, and I bet everyone on this...

Is breathing a specific way important or overkill?

Don't know about snipers, but I've done a little precision shooting here and there. In precision-type shooting, generally you're taught to take a breath, then let it about half-way out and hold that, while smoothly pressing the trigger until it breaks. With some practice, I usually break the...

Anyone wear a bota bag while playing?

JC, if you can't afford to buy a couple drinks plus tip, wherever your playing, just don't go out. Stay home until you scrape together enough allowance to behave like a normal person. It's stuff like bringing in a bag like that that makes the rest of us pool players look like cheap-ass...

Another how would you shoot it thread

IME, this is a speed shot, not an English shot. Regardless, it's not easy. It's actually easier for me (YMMV) to just kick it back to the side pocket. Still not much English, just stroke medium-soft (between soft and a medium speed shot) with a little left/top left. This is assuming that the...

Your playing cue vs playing off the wall?

Nowadays, about 3-4 racks. For most of my money game days, around 30 years ago, mostly only marks brought their own cues to gamble. Bringing your own cue was like wearing a big sign that said, "hey look, I have money I want to give away, and here's the stick to prove it!" Sharps played with...

If Pool Rooms/Bars Opened Monday 5/4/2020 , post Covid 19 would you come if.

Supposedly our bars/pool halls will be open on the 11th. Can hardly wait for the following weekend to get out and play some pool. Now just have to see when league starts back up.
