Consensus "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) List

Efren the "GOAT": 5 No question.

Best way to roll forward just a bit on longer shots?

That makes sense. I'm just relating what it was called by the guy that taught me the shot; either way it's a great shot by any name.

Best way to roll forward just a bit on longer shots?

Oh, I know. Similar to how for most of my life I called making a "shape," a "leave." There's no real 'standardization' of terms in pool (not yet anyway), so we have to occasionally interpret various terms for the same things as they evolve.

Best way to roll forward just a bit on longer shots?

So it's called drag draw now. When I learned that shot probably over twenty years ago i was told it was a 'punch draw' shot. It's an extremely useful shot. Does take some practice and of course an understanding of where and when to use it. Or rather when and where not to use it.

    Generation Gap/Millennials/Pool/Sports

Hahahaha. Possibly the least informed, completely without perspective sentence I've ever read since first logging onto the internet 25 years ago. Well, except for Gore saying that he invented the internet. So the second dumbest thing.

    Craziest shot you ever performed

That video is just incredible, thanks for posting that. Fortunately or unfortunately I've had lots of crazy shots over the years. One accidental shot that stands out is the time the cue was frozen to the side rail a few inches to the 'left' of the side pocket and the object ball was less than...

Mental game after someone puts a 4 pack on you?!

Everyone that's been in a similar spot probably has their own idea of how to deal with this situation; you're job is to figure out what yours will be from now on. I just play it one game at a time. I know, that sounds cliche, and it probably is, but that's how I look at it. I will say that I...

Very Nice Meucci Originals x 2 - Value Question

A couple years ago I saw a Meucci Original Gambler series in clubs (I think) on Ebay go for around $700. I'm assuming a little here, but if your stick is as pristine as it looks, it probably would be worth at least that much, probably more like $800.

    Just How "Big" is .2mm?

Doubtful that 99% of human beings can discern any physical difference between 11.8mm and 12.0mm or even 12.5mm. For giggles I just laid my 12.2mm dia. Blackdot shaft next to my 11.74mm UW shaft (diameters measured with my digital calipers I use for reloading rifles cartridges), and I can't see...

    sportsmanship question.

    Good point. Hadn't considered that.

    sportsmanship question.

I guess that depends. Do you have a kid or someone else that looks up to you? Then the answer is "yes." If it's only about winning, well, enjoy your game.

    On the Subject of Bangers.....

    Well darn, looky there, I guess I'm not a banger. I was going to get a T-shirt too . . .

    What if...

Haha. Not sure where you're angst is coming from, but they aren't excuses, sweetheart. I've played on just about every type of table that exists over four decades. In that time I've gone through the four stages, twice now. Being in the fourth stage once again, I play the way I want to play...

    sportsmanship question.

That's a good question. Seems kind of dumb on the part of the league.

    What if...

No thanks, though I can see the obvious benefits as described in the OP. Being just 5' 8," a ten foot table, and being higher than normal would mean my having to use a crutch just about every other shot. No thanks. One of the principle reasons I've been playing almost exclusively bar boxes...

    sportsmanship question.

I never want to win on a technicality, so much so that I'll 'forget' a rule/reg occasionally to make sure it doesn't happen. I hate winning because of a technicality; it's not really winning, IMO. Heck, I hate winning because my opponent scratches on the money ball. I'd rather spot it and...

    WATCH THIS............ UN-real

That's not hard to do. I've done that kind of thing hundreds of times . . . all I have to do is say to myself, " I just want to nick that ball so I can get it to . . . blah blah blah, and "Ta-Dah!" I somehow squeeze the cue between the two balls like a rocket scientist. Even had a couple that...

What type of shot do you enjoy the most?

On a fundamental level, I like draw shots. If given a 50/50 scenario, I'll take the draw just about 100% of the time. Situationally, I have become something of an adept at combinations and carom/combos. But most recently, I've gotten a little in love with draw-caroms. Probably too much in...

    Just mho, but...

For me the answer is based mostly on aesthetics and tradition. I like wood shafts. I've shot a few shots with exactly one Revo CF shaft, and it was nice, but it didn't shoot significantly better, or even differently than a quality wood shaft. To me, anyway. I couldn't shoot difficult shots...

Base of Ball or Edge of Ball

Oh, we're talking about the object ball . . . Okay, then never mind my first post. With the object ball, I basically do the same thing as noted above. The base of the ball must be outside the kitchen. Though I won't argue about that either; if my opponent wants to argue about whether the base...
