i purchased a Kent Davis about a month ago. Probably the best playing cue I've ever had. Bought a Purpleheart Gilbert J/B and haven't hit a ball with it. Seems like it'd make a great player. Have a Josey Ebony sneaky coming soon.

I was looking for some advice on what model I'd really like, if there were an alternative to Mark Gregory doing my rails without shipping them out and what else I'd need to do to the table to trick it out besides the rails. I now know I want a Gold Crown 4 and even a 5 if I can locate one used...

Mark that table is absolutely stunning! Unfortunately one of those isn't in my budget. I'll have to stick to a Gold Crown 4 with Perfect Pockectz.

Well I guess the thread started some lively conversation. At least I know I want a 4 now. Just have to fix its deficiencies.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have similar feelings about the 4's and have many hours playing on them. Probably the wisest choice but I like that look of the 1's. I have a few I'm going to end up with a 4.

Unfortunately I'm in Chicago and I don't move to the new house until mid June. Otherwise I'd be looking at it.

I'll be seriously in the market for a Gold Crown a month from now. I have limited it to either a 1 or a 4. My dream would be to restore a 1 in the blue color with Tournament Blue Simonis. I also happen to like 4s for their more streamlined features with flush corner castings and no counters...

I believe from your post you have t12 60 watt 8' bulbs. You could try putting a new ballast in. I think it would possible to change the bulb sockets. I'm not sure what's available for conversion to t8 or better yet led. I'm sure others will chime in.

I always broke with my playing cue before my layoff. Both 8 ball and 9 ball with a Southwest. I never had a problem and sometimes I have a fairly strong break. Since I've returned to the game I don't break with my playing cue even though I prefer to. I want to keep my playing tip in the best...

Your table and light are spectacular. How did you apply the paint? Is there any durability issues? I ask as I'm looking to do the same thing but in the blue.

This would be my preferred finish. I was unaware that it was available with nickel trim.

I'm in the market for a Gold Crown and want a 1 but not opposed to a 4. The problem for me is the color of the corner castings, rail trim etc. I assume powder coating would be the best option. A couple things come to mind. One being what color, the other how easy does the rail trim come off...

I'm not so sure a Gold Crown 1 is readily available available at this price.

Unfortunately I'm in the midst of buying and selling a house right now. A Gold Crown 1 in that color combo is what I'm after for the new home. That table would make a great restoration project. The next trick would be getting it Corbraized.
