I do use these, but a bit of a pain:

Hitting cut shots with draw - why do I keep missing?

I got to imagine it has something to do with the quality inconsistency of your stroke. An APA 4, is basically a beginner approaching intermediate level. One issue with these type of players is their consistency of where they strike the cue ball. Practice your stroke quality and hitting the cue...

Break cue.. the most over hyped cue in our bag?

Here is a question about jump cues. Can a jump cue shaft, which has a phenolic tip, handle being used also as a breaking cue? Are all cues that are jump cues handle being used as a break cue without being damaged?

Break cue.. the most over hyped cue in our bag?

If I could get away with breaking and playing with one cue, I would. My flattened tip on my break cue tells the whole story of why I like two different sticks for two different jobs. I tried playing with a flattened tip and it is very difficult, so I like to keep my playing stick tip perfectly...

    Projector training system

I am an intermediate player looking for a projector training system for my 8-ft table downstairs. I did a search and the last post were from 2022, and I'm sure technology has changed a bit since then. Anybody have any recommendations for a decent system that doesn't break the bank?

Which Variable Is the Cause of Most Missed Shots

I see many folks missing, including myself, when we are overly preoccupied with cue ball position. It's like the shooter has two thought processes going on at once, and maybe cue ball position occupies more mind power than it should. Probably the best mindset is to calculate where you want the...

How do you tell if a cue has real Ivory in it?

I am sure there are just as beautiful inlay material as ivory, probably more so with technology today.

How do you tell if a cue has real Ivory in it?

Really, what is the great allure of having ivory? It's an ego thing, at the expense of endangered animals.

Which Variable Is the Cause of Most Missed Shots

Side spin is not the culprit, and I don't think anybody is saying that, it is 'unwanted' side spin that is the culprit.

Which Variable Is the Cause of Most Missed Shots

You spent a lot of words in your explanation, but I agree with most of it. When we get too much into our conscious mind, we have a tendency to mess up the shot. In the zone, it doesn't take a lot of thinking, just doing. "Just do it !"

Which Variable Is the Cause of Most Missed Shots

It probably leads to most misses. Everybody who plays pool has probably shot hundreds of the same shot over and over so that we all know how to pot a ball on a particular shot. Lack of confidence or letting pressure get to you can be debilitating. There is a group on Facebook that deals with...

Which Variable Is the Cause of Most Missed Shots

I try straight in shots diagonally on my 8-ft pool table, and it is amazing how difficult straight shots can be that are about 8 or 10 ft long. It just takes a bit of deviation from a pure stroke to have two spheres not contact each other just right, resulting in a miss. I can tell when I strike...

3, spin induced throw. It doesn't take much for a miss.

Reshot routine - cue tip at base of cue ball

Being a newbie to the game, 2 years now, I notice when I miss a more lengthy shot, I accidentally put side spin on the cue ball. It doesn't take much to throw the ob off line for a miss. Lately, I have been practicing my stroke quality, and have found I seem to do better with cf pro taper than...

Pro taper vs conical taper on deflection?

Probably difficult to keep from warping? A guy was wanting to sell a Mali to me with a 11.75mm pro taper and the shaft was not true. I rolled the entire cue on a table and it was so out of line it was silly. It did remind me of a fishing pole a bit. I have larger hands and am more comfortable...

What tip you do you play with?

I went from a Kamui clear ss to soft. The ss mushrooms too much. Is it just me or does the Kamui seem to have more leather to it and last longer?

    Politics in a billiards forum?

This is not a thread to discuss politics , but rather a thread to get people's opinion whether it should be allowed in a Billiards forum. Politics seems to infiltrate everything nowadays, should it be allowed in the AZ Billiards forums? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

    Ivory in cues and Japan.

I just purchased a jump cue from Finland, and there didn't seem to be any apparent customs issues. Not sure if the package was opened and looked at by customs, it could have been, because the package was pretty beat up by the time it got to me. The jump cue was a carbon fiber stick. Btw, I live...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

This week a different story, and pretty much the exact opposite. Our team played well, I played well, and we won. Funny how different it can be from one night to another night. Being the captain of our team I suggested we focus better than we did the prior week and we seemed to accomplish that.

What tip you do you play with?

I also lime the Kamui clear. I have been using the super soft, but it has been mushrooming more than I like, so I am now putting on a soft instead when I need new tips.
