Good practice techniques for a beginner

I seem to fall out of the habit of staying down, and have to make that my main focus for the next couple weeks. I stay down for a period of time and then seem to slip out of that process, never able to make a habit out of it. It sounds like it's easy to do, and should be, but I have to be more...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I have tried this technique starting with five balls of the same suit and the eight ball, then try to run out. I just throw them on the table randomly and play the cue ball where it lies. I made it through the 5+8ball run out, getting to plus five. Then I threw an extra ball out there and went...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

It happens more on longer shots that are struck a bit harder than normal, and also when I try to put follow on the ball. I can draw the ball better than I can follow, and I think when I try to put topspin on the ball I lift up in that attempt. I am going to videotape some solo sessions on my...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I am a decent player for an individual who has only been playing two years, but I am still not happy with aspects of my game. I have had a couple lessons from a local Pro, but still have difficulty getting parts of his instruction included in my play. One thing that is disappointing is how I...

Delta / Metal Racks damaging balls ?

Could be their intention to create an equal playing environment for everybody on the league. Sounds a bit picky to me but, that may be their aim.

    Wood Grain Carbon fiber Shafts

One of the reasons people purchase carbon fiber shafts is their durability. This would take away that benefit. Personally, wood looks great, but so does the black carbon fiber shaft on your stick.

Wood porn on a Monday??? Hey Joey

Has anybody purchased any of the Truewood series from Cuetec? I purchased a leopard wood wrapped cue from them but wasn't overly impressed with it, so I returned it. Wow it was beautiful, the grain texture just didn't stand out enough for my liking...

    Rhino Cues on Facebook

I own two Rhino carbon fiber shafts, one for my playing cue, and one for my breaker. I also have a Rogue for my Pechauer, and a Cynergy for my Cuetec. I play just as well with any of them, and would not hesitate to buy another rhino if need be.

Joint protectors - what exactly do they protect?

I really doubt it. If properly fitted with the right protectors, the protector covering the pin becomes an extension of the cue based on how the flat part mates with the butt end of the shaft. One would really have to make an effort to damage the pin with the protector on there. I'm not buying...

    A gimmick!

Joint protectors - what exactly do they protect?

Not totally accurate. Both ends of the stick were damaged on my custom cue. Dropping the shaft on a hard surface and hitting the end will surely damage it. The female portion of the pin won't be damaged most likely, but the shaft itself can be easily damaged.

    Gloves

I have tried these, and quickly got rid of them. They didn't stay in place and didn't cover enough of my hand. For me, a waste of money. A lot of the reason gloves tear is users buy them too small. I have larger hands a buy 2xl.

Joint protectors - what exactly do they protect?

I know this thread is over a year old, but instead of making a new thread I would add to this one. A while back I dropped a custom cue on a concrete basement floor and it damaged both sides of the joint. It was a considerable amount of money getting it repaired. Yesterday, I put a different cue...

    CF conditioners?

I have a Rogue CF for my Pechauer stick and I don't care for it that much because it is too slick, or too smooth. It seems I would enjoy a little more friction from the shaft for control purposes. Is this a common issue? How can I change the feel of that shaft?

FOULS IN POOL ... Everything You Need to Know

Thanks Dr Dave, that is pretty much what I thought it would be. The only hitch for our play at this facility is that we have always returned a ball to its original location or left it where it was when striking it with the side of your cue stick. Our opponents moved the ball back to the head...

Drop pocket vs. gully... what is your preference and why?

I'm getting older now and would definitely opt for the Gully system over drop pockets, I hate walking around the table to retrieve all the balls. There are pros and cons with each, most of which have been stated, but I would choose the system that was reliable but return the balls to the short...

FOULS IN POOL ... Everything You Need to Know

I need some help with these particular situations that occurred today while playing, I can't seem to find the answer in the links that Dr Dave posted. We were playing Scotch doubles today: Situation 1) my partner took his shot, and while moving his cue away from the table he hit another ball and...

    BRIDGE LENGTH Effects and Considerations

I have the opposite problem, I feel more comfortable with an open Bridge than a closed. I have been trying to incorporate a closed Bridge in appropriate settings where the shot somewhat requires it, but it's always a conscious challenge to remember to use a closed bridge. Each type of bridge is...

    A properly fashioned Cue Tip

Well I'm not sure how much it matters to them, and I would like to take a closer look at his tip if it were possible at all, and see exactly what he's playing with. I'm sure a professional can play with just about anything but for me, it is like night and day. I was wondering why I couldn't get...
