Max Eberle on people who play on barboxes "Pool players need to grow some balls"

I am fortunate to have access to 9 ft tables locally, and I'm realizing it is something to be appreciated due to the fact that not everybody has access to them. A 9 ft table sure is a helper in developing your stroke and shot making. A lot of folks play on the 9-ft tables prior to League Play...

A lot of the better players play one pocket on the 9-ft tables, that seems to be there go-to gambling game. I like one pocket because it exercises a unique part of one's repertoire, finesse, banking, and safety strategy.

It's much easier/economical for a pool hall to cater to a 30 team league with 7 ft tables than 9 ft tables. I have played in 30-40 team leagues.

    Irish linen

Understood. Although, there is a tangible reason for one's preference. For me, I grip between the butt cap and the wrap, so a wrap is basically useless for me. I prefer a wrapless to get a beautiful wood grain appearance as well.

Max Eberle on people who play on barboxes "Pool players need to grow some balls"

Why can't both tables be acceptable in the game of pool? To me they both pose situations that are easier for me and harder for me. Trying to work the cue ball around the table in a delicate fashion is more demanding of a 7 ft table as opposed to a 9-ft table where there is more open space...

    Irish linen

Then why do you consistently play with a wrap, "for decades", if it doesn't make any difference? Aesthetically, wraps can look sharp, but so can beautiful wood grains. If it's something just for looks, I think wood grains and inlays look much nicer. Something is holding you to playing with wrap...

The wrap is personal, as you say, but I think it does make a difference in one's game. I can't imagine shooting with a feel I am not comfortable with, as opposed to a feel that is comfortable. I'm a no wrap individual, as I grip right at the butt end of the stick.

I'm going to play 4 hours on the 9 Footers today with a friend. I love this time, it's so casual, and I can really work on my stroke and pre-shot routine.

    Seyberts exorbitant shipping charges?

Seyberts doesn't make money on shipping, I don't believe, they just passed on the direct cost that UPS charges them. When I order things from Seyberts, they are very quick to send it out!

Max Eberle on people who play on barboxes "Pool players need to grow some balls"

Some interesting information, it was a nice read. What I take from this thread is that if I want to improve my stroke, my shooting accuracy, as svb says, play on 9 ft tables. I am 500 Fargo and I am not in the same league as Semi-Pro players. I'm okay with that, because the more I play the game...

    Lowest deflection kielwood

Again, I am no expert, but in order for the cue ball to deflect or squirt, the tip end of the shaft has to flex a bit. It can never be picked up by the human eye, but somewhere minutely the tip rotates slightly to one side. That's why carbon fiber shafts don't deflect as much is because the tip...

    Lowest deflection kielwood

Then you are saying a carbon fiber shaft and a maple shaft deflect equally? Low deflection shafts don't end their characteristics with just deflection. I may not have it right, but I would think that a low deflection shaft does not have the torque upon impact that a maple shaft does. That torque...

    Lowest deflection kielwood

I have only used a friend's KW for a few shots, and it really didn't give me much time to make an assessment . I have several carbon fiber shafts, but I always seem to go back to Maple as my favorite. I'd love to get a kW to try out. If nothing else, I think they look good to the eye.

    Lowest deflection kielwood

If what you say is the case, then why get a low deflection shaft in the first place if it's only going to make a tiny bit of deflection difference? Masse is another way of looking at deflection I believe, I also believe you get a bit more torque from a maple shaft over a load deflection carbon...

Max Eberle on people who play on barboxes "Pool players need to grow some balls"

Playing 10 ball or one pocket on a 9ft table is the best for one's stroke. On bar box league night, most of the better players warm up on the 9ft tables before heading for play on the 7fts.

    Lowest deflection kielwood

I agree with the idea that there are pros and cons to low deflection shafts. The wood seems to be more responsive in letting the shooter feel the shot. For massé shots, it seems to be easier with the more torque of a wood shaft. I don't think either will make you shoot better then the other...

    Jump Bridges?

I am a bit late in reviewing this particular jump Bridge, but I like it better than the other one because I can get my hand around it and support it. As far as jumping, it it works decently, and would be helpful for those learning how to jump , and those who have difficulty with close-in jumping...

    Custom & Production Cue Wraps

I am not overly tall, but I am 6 ft 1 in tall, and I always grab behind the wrap when shooting. So my choice would be either a wrapless stick, or a stick that the wrap starts all the way from the butt cap, like my Cuetec WCT: https://ebay.us/m/x5QK3x
