What is the best pool cue joint/pin type?

Busted. Still trying to understand why resuscitating an old discussion on preferred joint types on a billiards forum is so taboo.

What is the best pool cue joint/pin type?

I’m exactly the same way. I was using Sniper tips, layered layered layered… switched to French Champions and milk duds. It is a weird feeling going in and having the very guy, who designed your current layered tip, cut it off to put on a single layer tip. There’sa little fun smack talk, but he’s...

What is the best pool cue joint/pin type?

Can’t disagree. I’ve loved every 5/16:14 I’ve owned. Never had even the slightest issue. Solid and classic

What is the best pool cue joint/pin type?

I currently have three conversion cues all with Radial. New to radial. Before these I’ve mainly used 3/8:10 and 5/16:14, both which I love. The radial pins hit good, honestly I can’t quite tell the difference in hit, but they do come slightly loose. Two days ago, I broke with one and the cue...

    Shaft Weight Importance

There is more weight focused on the bridge, tip and cue ball (the business end) and a bit less weight on your stroke arm.

    Shaft Weight Importance

Awesome, thank you. PFD is making me a 4.4 right now. My sweet spot is a cue which weighs right about 18.4 with a balance point of 38.25”

    Shaft Weight Importance

I can speak for myself… The weight of the cue transfers down the length of the cue, through the tip, into the cue ball. The more weight you have, the less force is required from the stroke. The more force in the stroke, the higher the chances of little deviations sneaking into it. Momentum...

I love light. What’s the weight?

    Shaft Weight Importance

I completely agree. A lighter cue which is forward-balanced is both nimble in overall weight, but hits more accurately and consistently, like a heavier cue. Best of both worlds. Who are the cue makers who prefer heavier shafts that you referenced?

For Sale: Adam Franks Cues Milk Dud Tips!!

Finally played with one of these tonight. Absolutely fantastic. Wasn’t expecting this. 2 1/2 hours of straight play. A couple dozen games of 8-ball, not one miscue. Grabs the ball great, firm hit. My go-to tips are French Champions. These are easily on par, if not better.

physical consequences of cue balance point location

Imagine your perfect shooting stance, YOUR perfect stance (one in which 5 second stick man drawings won’t injure their stick shoulders). Now imagine a triangle above, with the focus of that triangle’s weight concentrating more so on the tip of the cue, and less on the back end. And that was the...

physical consequences of cue balance point location

You can get all caught up the placent of the feet of a 5 second stick figure if you want, it wasn’t about that tho, it was only about the triangle. And as I mentioned, the cue he was referring to specifically had a balance point of nearly 21 inches from the butt cap.
