    Coring on my metal lathe

    I use my variable speed router and two drill bits. The first looks like a forstner bit but with regular flutes 1/2 deep this allow material to exit as the bit enters. The second is a regular bit .03 larger. cut slow, autofeed tool post. Apply air.

    I removed the backing plate on my chuck and had another shop dril 1/4x1/4 holes along the outside of the plate [where you place your hand to slow it down] Then an strong 90 degree bracket bolted the machine and a 3/8 screw cut to fit the holes.
