He asked for help,I tried but.........................

The tricky part is determining at what point in your development you need to start waiting for better break out opportunities. Even when you do have better shotmaking and control, taking a risk is still appetizing. Especially when you are approaching a high run.

    Anybody want to play Alex….

Doesn’t matter. The only way I beat Alex is if he forgets to show up.

Matchroom Sport in Talks to Sell Minority Stake Worth $215M

My thoughts too. It could go either way depending on your perspective. Maybe I’m just an optimist but one thing they would be looking for is growth opportunities. Matchroom has a history of growing niche games (ex. Darts) and pool has similar potential given the viewing numbers on YouTube and...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

I came across this and thought it was relevant, https://irisreading.com/why-children-learn-faster-than-adults-and-how-you-can-learn-their-tricks/#:~:text=Generally%2C%20kids%20can%20learn%20a,is%20not%20only%20for%20kids. The gist is that kids have developing brains and more brain plasticity...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

I know you aren’t asking me but, there are plenty of people who work very hard, but at the wrong things. Effort is one thing but it needs to be directed properly otherwise you will be spinning your wheels on a plateau. One example is someone who does drills every day but never drills that...

Why we can't have nice things

I agree for the most part, but I think sponsors are looking at products that align with the values of their consumers as well as their own. Admittedly this is out of my wheelhouse but most sponsors (especially those targeting the 18-34 demo) probably recognize that their consumers are not too...

Matchroom changing break rules for European Open (Aug 9-14 Germany)

I consider myself primarily a snooker player but I would not be in favour of such a change. You would start to lose pools identity if players started turning down balls just because they are on the cushion and they aren’t straight in enough. The objective here should be to keep the players...

Why we can't have nice things

It wasn’t directed at any person, persons or groups. Nor was it overly aggressive in nature. Although I think we want to discourage regular cursing, the odd F bomb isn’t anything to be concerned about. Two things we need in pool, passion and personality. Although there are ways to express...

Why we can't have nice things

I’ve heard that before and love that story. I’m sure there were plenty of people who didn’t expect him to be a former champion level boxer.

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

I probably wasnt clear. We can observe that people don’t progress at the same pace and some will get better quicker. So we know some people have more of an aptitude for the game. But without defining talent we don’t know what the implications of this aptitude is. Or how much of it is...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

I find the discussion about whether talent exists is a little dull. If we put 10 complete beginners in a room for a week with Mark Wilson giving instruction, those 10 people will not be at equal skill levels at the end of the week. So certainly there are people who have an aptitude for the...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

I think talent exists, sort of. For things like pool, it has a lot more to do with what is between your ears than what is in your blood. One of the main differences you see between long time lower level players and higher level players is likelihood of learning from mistakes, Higher level...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

Who’s to say they don’t get better every year, it’s just the pace of improvement that is different between players. Improvement is slow after the 600 level and probably triply so over the 800 range. And then it also depends on whether they are practicing to improve or practicing to maintain...

Inaugural Predator Germany Open (10 Ball) 13-18June2022, Bremen/ Winner 20,000 Euros

They really need to do a better job of advertising these events. I always seem to learn about them halfway through the first or even second day.

    How did you learn 14.1?

I would recommend practicing the different aspects of 14.1 in isolation. For example, Brainwash drill to learn patterns Similarly, just toss 15 balls on the table and see how many times in a row you can run them out. If you can’t run 50 with them spread apart, then you can’t run 50 playing...

SightRight: Stunned by how good this is

The tool is intended to help you find your vision centre by positioning yourself in such a way that you can see a straight, unbroken line. In snooker they teach that you should stand behind the shot with your head on the line of the shot. This tool is intended to help you understand exactly...

SightRight: Stunned by how good this is

Agree here. You can hit a pool ball pretty poorly and still make the ball if you are lined up properly. I always thought that the shot approach was the most under explored topic in any of the instructional material. It sort of explained like this “stand behind the shot with your right...

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

To test this grey area theory out, he should try it in the next 14.1 tournament he plays in. I’m sure his opponent will accept that explanation. I love that documentary. Someone should totally do this. If Jayson weren’t already an established top player it would even be a similar premise...

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

I wasn’t suggesting that one should be fudging their practice runs to inflate a false number. Only that you can do what you want in your basement and no one cares. A world record attempt isn’t the time to push the limits of the rules to gain an unfair advantage.

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

At least he partially owns it. Though I don’t buy the whole idea of the racking rules not being clear.
