    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

If you spend time finding a break shot and speed you like, you can get a perfect starting spread on most attempts.

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

I’ve often thought about which is more difficult, starting mid run or with a break shot. I think for me, mid rack is technically harder because, as you mention, every milestone is one additional break shot away. For these guys, I don’t think it matters at all because they are running such big...

    John Schmidt Go Fund Me?

I’d pay for that. Let’s set some match play records. The highest run in an actual game that im aware of is Feijens 300+

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

Yea agree, to not at least give him credit from the next breakshot onward is ludicrous.

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

Wait is this a clever marketing strategy to get us all to buy the run? Now I have to see this suspicious 45th ball!

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

Your turn starts where the balls finished after a miss, safety or foul. And to answer your question, it would be a 2 pack. I’m not suggesting we give him credit for the balls prior to the foul if we insist on all ball fouls.

    Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

I don’t understand why a run can’t start in the middle of the rack as long as the balls aren’t placed by hand. We don’t rerack on every miss in competition. But even so, why wouldn’t you at least accept the run starting at the next break shot? Maybe he has three records lol.

    John Schmidt- live 14.1

    Agree, definitely consider that cheating.

    John Schmidt- live 14.1

Yeah this is akin to placing the black on the edge of the spot in snooker to get bit more (or less) angle.

    John Schmidt- live 14.1

I didn’t know you could do that!

    John Schmidt- live 14.1

I think he is now past Shane’s high run.

John Schmidt 14.1 High Run attempts

These stats would suggest that if John played under similar conditions as Jayson, he would likely run similar numbers as Jayson. I think the lack of the template rack is what may stop him from getting 400+ in the next couple days.

Will 4 inches pockets be the future of US pool, bar box and big table?

My table has pockets that are bit looser than 4.25”. Most of my friends and family only play pool casually. They find my table to be unplayable and get pretty frustrated with it. Now imagine what it would be like if it were actually 4”. I’m a big fan of 4” pockets for the pros since I think...

    John Schmidt- live 14.1

Maybe, but MR is specifically focused on 9 ball and wants to set the standard for 9 ball equipment. Although the prospect of 14.1 on 4.25” pockets intrigues me, I recognize that I’m in the minority here. And frankly, we don’t have a good history of differentiating pocket specs, conditions or...

    AZB now owns accu stats

I’m a bit shy of that. 38 and counting. But I’m a history nut. If someone found lost footage of Greenleaf, Caras, Ponzi or Mosconi, I’d faint.

    AZB now owns accu stats

I agree, sadly a lot of pools history is locked in a vault somewhere. I’d rather have a poor quality version of an old 80s match where Mizerak was near his prime than nothing at all.

Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

Ok so I’m totally on board with hating the purple 5. But what’s all this about the brown 7? Are we all interior decorators now and maroon and brown are so different from each other? It reminds me of picking out cupboards for my kitchen when I said I wanted white door panels. They pulled out...

Congrats on the purchase. I’d love to see the Vimeo service continue. The last communication I had (prior to the sale) was they were going with another platform. Personally, I prefer to watch matches on my big screen tv, so Vimeo fills that need nicely since the have an AppleTV app. I wasn’t...

UK Open (9B), May 17-22, 2022 -- field full already

I agree, it’s going to be much harder action for snooker players these days. I think just the ability of the top players with the jump cue will make it impossible to go far. But as long as pool is fully open, they have a chance to go a few rounds in since there are plenty of amateurs and...
