I got his from my wife for Christmas.

Got a pic or at least a link to let us see what one you're talking about?

    Rhino CF shafts....159bux, free ship

Ordered one on Nov 29th, and it was delivered about a week ago. Didn't open it yet as it's going to be a Christmas present for my GF. I ordered in that week between the Black Friday sale, and their Christmas Sale, so didn't get either sale price. Not happy about that, but if the GF likes it...

Easier way to boost the US Mosconi Cup team?

I like this thought, or at least how it made me think.... What if a day was added to the whole event went like the first match, where individuals play a single game? 5 on each side makes for a total of 25 individual racks for everyone to play everyone round-robin style. This could easily be...

    Mosconi Cup journey

I watched this last night. I enjoyed it and didn't know that much about the history, but I thought it was well done.

Are there any 7ft tables to consider besides a diamond

A lot depends on you for that decision. If you're looking for a table that plays well, and that you'll use with others that might not be 600+ Fargo players, there are lots of options. The Valley and their clones are well established in bars and such, and you can have them ratcheted up a bit...

    Rhino CF shafts....159bux, free ship

I went in yesterday to get one for my GF as a Christmas present. Didn't show a discount. I did sign up for their emails and got 5% off, so after the $15 shipping charge, it came to roughly $205. Confirmation email followed quickly, but nothing for tracking. Message said they'd let me know...

    APA rule question

Is that an actual rule in the rulebook? I've always said that the two people playing should work it out, but when lower handicap players are playing, and/or when someone's boyfriend or husband wants to chime in, that's when the captians get involved. I'd like to have something in the rulebook...

    Who is the true 'scorpian'?

Not a foul in APA.:)

what's your 9 ball B@R % on your practice table?

I tried this last night. Played 10 racks and got a 9 on the break once, and a combo to the 9 on another. Wasn't sure that would count as 20%, so I played another 10 racks. Had one runout and one combo to the 9 again. That's taking BIH after the break. So for 20 racks, BIH after break, I had...

    CARBON SHAFT AND TALCUM POWDER

I now play with a CF shaft, and will occasionally wear a glove. Powder was a thing for wood shafts, but you hardly ever see it around where I play. You don't even see those big chalk things on the wall anymore either. I notice in the videos I've seen, powder is still big in the Phillipines...

    My pool room

Very cool! And mannequins to act as bridge holders? Love it! I'll bet you did a hell of a job on the cars too!

    Pool-Snooker poll..........

I'd be interested to try snooker, but no idea where. I do know that my usual stops don't have it. Saw a guy bring his own set of balls into the room and he used one of the 9 foot tables, but that was during an APA TriCup, and I was otherwise occupied, so didn't really learn anything that time.

Was anyone here aware of the fact that Ray Charles most favorite piano was painted in a bold yellow and blue checkerboard pattern? ................neither was he.

Another one of those posts that make you cringe but here goes: idea for game variation

I do this exact thing to help my girl start thinking about connecting the dots. Beginner players get ball-in-hand and just look for the easiest shot, but not what they'll do after, so this is my way of pushing that. I think it helps lower level handicaps a lot to get them thinking past their...

    roller bridge

Agreed. My team, and a few of our friends from other teams often gripe about things like handicaps and rules within the APA. My standard answer, and one that has clarified it for me, is that first and foremost, the APA (and TAP) is a business. Teams doing well and running away from the pack...

    roller bridge

We just had our local APA MVP tournaments this weekend for 8 and 9 ball. There is a guy from another division that has very limited use of his right arm and to a lesser extent, his legs. He uses a few different beanbag looking things, and this hockey puck kinda bridge that his cue slides...

    Average player cue recommendations?

I'm with the guy that suggested the gift card. I worked in a mid/high end outdoor store for about 10 years part time. I worked in the fishing department, and we had a lot of very expensive fly-fishing gear. Around Christmas time, we'd always get people that wanted to buy their...

    Hunter v Frost, your stance?

Posted this on the other thread about the tournament: A couple of Turning Stone's ago, Shane was playing.....I think if was Johnny Archer. Johnny had on a sweater kind of thing over his shirt, and on a shot where he was leaning out over the table, Shane called him for his sleeve touching...
