US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

A couple of Turning Stone's ago, Shane was playing.....I think if was Johnny Archer. Johnny had on a sweater kind of thing over his shirt, and on a shot where he was leaning out over the table, Shane called him for his sleeve touching another ball. Johnny had the material pushed up past his...

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Does anyone know how this last storm impacted the Atlantic City area? I haven't read through these threads if it's been posted earlier, but it looks like lots of flooding.

What is the motorcycle and sidecar from? I get the rest, but not that one.

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I find that for our lower handicap players, the hardest thing is to get them to think about their next shot with ball-in-hand. They constantly shoot a ball in the opposite direction of where the next ball is, because that is the closer pocket. And even setting up a shot with a slight cut angle...

TV Got America Picker, But who the best cue picker on AZBilliards???

I used to like American Pickers a lot more than I do now. Don't get me wrong, it's still interesting, but it's not the same for me. I met a friend here in Upstate NY that had the American Pickers show send out some people to her friend's place. Not sure how that part happened, but she said...

Side action at the US Open?

One thing I will agree with, as far as Atlantic City goes, when you cross over Atlantic Ave going away from the beach, you are essentially in enemy territory.

Side action at the US Open?

I've lived in NJ for well over 50 years, and had no idea just how bad it was to drive. I guess I'm lucky to have escaped with my life! Speedboats?????????

    US Open Brackets are up.

Just looking over the brackets I see a lot of the flags in those little circles for nationality. Interesting that Fedor Gorst has a blank circle.

    Rules for an APA league

Those are all pretty standard rules for the APA league and tournaments where I play. A lot may seem kinda weird, but you have to remember that the APA is a business that involves playing pool, not a pool league that someone is trying to organize. The food thing is because if a location doesn't...

    League trophy

The shooting sports that I was involved in gave out medals. There is a company called Blackington that makes some really nice, customizable ones that look great and are well received. We had a discussion about awards and a buddy kept saying that it might not be a big deal for some of us, but...

First Joss Tour stop on 7 footers

Three total, see my edit on my first post here. ....and I'm hoping that it makes weaker players more competitive. ;-)

First Joss Tour stop on 7 footers

That location has always had 9 footers, but just recently switched to all 7 foot diamonds. It's been a stop on the tour for a few years that I know of, so maybe just sticking with the location, even though there are only 7 footers now. I'm going to try and get into that one and rub elbows with...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

We just finished up our first season playing APA 9 ball. We've been playing 8 ball for a few years, but this is the first 9 ball session. Have to say, it's frustrating to watch opposing players just smash the hell out of the balls and slop them in. So much so that a couple lower handicaps on...

    Fedor Mosconi cup

Done in lots of Olympic events. The United States is very well represented on many of those third-world countries' Olympic teams, as many do not have very strict requirements as to what they consider a citizen. You don't see it as much of late, but a few decades ago there were US college...

my dumbass need some help. TIA

Valley's have three places where you can access the area under the slate. Most effective will be the keyed door underneath the table. That is a little less than a square foot in size, and you can get your head in there to look around. Have a small flashlight, and something that you can reach...

    Rule I’m not sure about

There are a lot of these rules that you learn in the first couple of sessions you play in any of the different leagues, and you usually learn them the hard way. Sometimes more than once.

Pro Pool vs Pro Golf TV Productions

Pro Golf is the result of years and years of what I'll call "grooming". You'll not see a pro golfer on TV smoking, or seldom drinking anything but water. You won't see them wearing anything other than pants, and the standard golf shirt, although they show more and more sponsor logos. Payne...

    Gorst in the Mosconi

That's true for Mosconi Cup and for Olympics too, but not the other way around. Other countries have much "looser" requirements for someone competing under their flag. Have to agree with this, and from my own experience and observations. Had some coworkers and friends that were born overseas...
