    Pool Ball Collecting.

I happened to come across this article while looking for something else this morning, and thought I'd add this in here. Not sure if any other reference was made in the prior hundred pages, so apologies if it is a repost. https://www.albanyinstitute.org/albany-billiard-balls.html The...

Anyone know what this yellow staining is?

It almost looks like the discoloration that happens from tobacco smoke. Maybe the balls get coated and the areas near the pockets are the "high traffic" areas on the table. And the cushions could be from smoker's fingers? Just a guess.

    Funny pic/gif thread...

My experience with that word comes from when I did a lot of surf fishing. There is an organization called The American Littoral Society. It's a group dedicated to preservation of the coastline and all the animals, and plants that live along it. https://www.littoralsociety.org/history.html...

    Pool Ball Set Identification

I found a set of balls online, and it is claimed to be a set of Aramith Crown Standard. The box is labeled that way, with a price that seems to be in line for that ball set, but they don't look like any other Crown Standard set I've seen, much thicker font for the numbers. They look more like...

    APA Question???

I think we all get tunnel vision occasionally. Being an accurate shooter, and always looking for the possible out, sometimes we miss the perfect safety. It's good when your team has different players that see all the options that sometimes get missed by the shooter.

    APA Question???

This happens occasionally. Maybe more than occasionally. The rules state that if a sideline teammate calls the timeout, it's a timeout. The player cannot refuse it, the timeout stands. The team can refuse the players call for a timeout, but the player can't refuse one. The reasoning to me...

    Sport grip.

If you search eBay for "sport grip" in the billiards accessories section, there's quite a few available. I'm sure the big supply places like Seybert's and Pool Dawg have them too. One I've seen is a rubber heat-shrink tube that seems promising. Let us know if you do one yourself.

    Break Cue Features and Justification

I have a couple other cues, same cues as the one I'm using as a break cue right now. I'm going to see if I can take out a weight bolt (if there is one) and try going with one of those for a bit. My GF has a "ballbuster" break cue, I think it's about 23 ounces, and I've used that more than a...

    Using bowlliards to track progress?

Just finished. Had a 110, and it felt sloppy. Scratched on the break twice, and got too wrapped up trying to break out clusters and missed the shot a few times. I think I like this. It give an actual metric to track and build upon. I’ll definitely try this again and again. It’s not an excuse...

    Using bowlliards to track progress?

This looks interesting. I like that it is different every time and presents a constantly evolving challenge. I'll give it a try and post up how I do.

    Break Cue Features and Justification

The accuracy part is what I'm learning is a much bigger part than anything else. But after you can reliably hit your spot, some cueball control helps, especially in 9-ball. I never could get that control with the phenolic like I can with my leather tip. The White Diamond seems like an...

    Break Cue Features and Justification

I'm in the market for a new break cue. I have been using an inexpensive cue for breaking. It's 21oz, has a hard leather tip, and is about 13mm in diameter, just a plain jane no frills cue. My player is about 19oz, has a Kamui Soft, and is about 11.8mm with a long pro taper. Up until now, I...

Who in here plays all 3 pretty well?

I'm surprised there hasn't been mention of shuffleboard in this thread. The bars that were the popular locations back when I was growing up (1960s) all had shuffleboard tables. Some were short, like about 15 feet, but most were about 10 yards long. As a kid, I'd just make stacks with the...

yellow carbon fiber without painting, is it the same material as the black carbon fiber?

I think that the kevlar tube's impact resistance isn't really the linear impact that a pool cue endures. The kevlar tube would withstand being slapped against the rail better, like some do after missing a shot, as that material and weave pattern are known for that. Kevlar is what a lot of...

What Non Traditional / Alternative Games and Sets Do You Enjoy and Play?

Has anyone tried playing 4t5? Vic Conte always has a 7 foot Diamond off to the side at Turning Stone set up for this. He usually gets a few of the top players to come over and give it a try early in the week, and has their scoresheets there to show off. When we had our Tri-Cup at his place...
