    Connoisseur of Custom Cues

Man, sorry to hear that. Joe was a stand-up guy, it's unfortunate his family appears to have moved so fast liquidating what they believed to be his personal assets. I will keep an eye out for your cues.

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

It was probably you that beat me that day. You remember beating a tall ugly guy really badly in NY about 20 years ago?

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

I once played a guy using one of those super thin pencil-like shafts. It looked ridiculous and cartoonishly thin to me. After he beat me by playing almost flawless, I asked to hit a few with his cue. It played way better than I expected and it allowed you to better see exactly where on the...

    Closet queen.

I had Garth make me a case too. It was over 20 years ago. Sold, beautiful case. I'll see if I could post some pics later.

    Nick Varner Interview Released

Nick had a confidence aura that once he got in line, you were screwed and had no chance. Even when he was way down in the score, he still looked like he was going win!

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

I've owned a few SW cues and always considered them soft hitting cues. On the other side of the spectrum, JW cues are the stiffest I've ever played with. Of course, I'm just one opinion based on a handful of cues.

    Thrift store cue ID please

I just stopped back at the thrift store to check on it. Bidding is currently at $60 and in $10 increments. So If I bid and won I'd be into it for ~$75 after tax. She also needs the ferrule re-glued and a new tip. I'm thinking that's another $40-50. Is it even worth $125?

    Thrift store cue ID please

This is at my local thrift store on a silent auction. Appears pretty straight. Anyone know what kind of cue it is?

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Ha, this same guy did something similar. I have no idea is this is legal or not: when he needed to take an intentional in one pocket or straight pool but pushing a tad too far would give something up, he put the tip right down on the felt and then slowly pushed in to tap the cueball. He told...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

When I first started playing (early 80s), there was an old war horse road hustler in our room that played really strong even in his mid 60s (still could run 80-100 balls). When the cueball was frozen to a ball and he needed it to not be frozen, he would bridge very close to the cueball...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Agreed. It wouldn't be hard to subtly change your style of play a little to minimize weird cue ball reactions. If I had to bet, I would say someone did manipulate some cueballs somewhere. If several of the best players in the world all say something was off, ya gotta believe there's something...

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

No doubt most social media stories are nothing more than unsubstantiated gossip. And I'm also throwing my challenge flag on him having a "legal team".

World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

Crazy Frank (RIP) got kicked out of a pool room because they kept finding needles in the rails. Apparently, they are pretty invisible. Frank would put them in by holding the rail while pretending to get down to view the balls. The needle would be in between his fingers. I guess it made rails...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Call me a dinosaur, but I equate old-skool cues and shafts to classic muscle cars. Those cars don't handle as well, aren't as fast, aren't as efficient, aren't as safe, and aren't as reliable. But, I still love them and will be paying a premium over the technologically superior Tesla. My...
