List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

hmmm...does anyone here know what I was referring to making reference to a 50K BB cue is? How is having status at a pool hall any less than having status anywhere else? Does wearing a Rolex at the yacht club yield any tangible benefits? "Status" is subjective and contextual. In the "context"...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Wait. You don't think a pool cue could be a status symbol? Do you think people pay 50K for a BB because they play better than everything else? Do you believe everyone purchases luxury items only because they are status symbols? Nobody purchases luxury items simply because they have an...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

I don't believe that will ever be the case. For example, I have a smart watch that besides keeping PERFECT time, it also monitors my biometrics, sleep cycles, checks my emails, make phone calls, has GPS, and can stream music to my earbuds. All for about $400 bucks. By your logic, nobody in...

World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

I agree they need to do something to fill the stands. I wonder if they charge to get in. If they do, they need to axe that charge. If it's already free, do something else to entice fans.

    Decal cues are the best

I've had the same experience. I ended up with some decal cues to keep on the rack for the kids and their friends. One day I screwed a good shaft on one and it plays just fine. I would have no problem playing a serious game with that cue (with better shaft).

    Filler Vs. Gorst

I love Efren, great player, nice guy, and an outstanding ambassador to represent our game. But in terms or rotation GOATS, didn't Buddy Hall beat Efren 20-some times in a row in tournaments? Could you imagine that? I'm not sure if that's fact, but I heard Buddy claimed it. I also heard Buddy...

<*> Brand New Blue Grass by Richard Harris Titlist Conversion <*>

Beautiful cue. How close / even are the points? Also, may I ask how you know it's a Cortland wrap?

    Tascarella or Scruggs

Some people love the way a JW hits. To me, they play very, very stiff (at least the ones I have owned). If you like that kind of hit, then you'll love the JW.

    Tascarella or Scruggs

I have had (and still have) several of both. In terms of quality and craftsmanship, they are very close (IMHO). Years ago, a Tasc might cost you double what a comparable Scruggs would. That gap has closed to being similar now (and rightfully so). In my opinion, you can't go wrong with...

How to stop wood shaft warping.

I have a funny story on the subject. I met a buddy of mine to play pool one day and he asked to borrow a cue. I asked where his was (a Richard Black). He told me he kept it in his truck and it froze the night before and every time it freezes the shaft get wet and sticky as it goes back to a...

How to stop wood shaft warping.

I have had cue makers tell me upright or lying flat. Doesn't matter. It does seem like most store upright but to my knowledge there's no hard data to support upright is any better than lying flat. I can state from my own experience that I've always stored lying flat and have shafts 40 years...

ID 2 Cues and 5 shafts please?

Personally, I don't see Ernie G. or Stroud in that cue. Someone is going to pay too much.

ID 2 Cues and 5 shafts please?

No mention on straightness. If a non-pool player inherited these and had them stored incorrectly, everything could be badly warped. I would not chance anything close to where the bidding currently is. Also, who starts off with a black veneer around dark wood? That seems kind of screwy.

    GB9 Ball Tour Tight pockets

Sure there is. Watch matches from the 1980s and 1990s. It seems like one or two balls per rack are poorly hit but fall anyways on those buckets. And I'm not talking intentional cheat to move the cue around.
