pool cue once in a lifetime buy

I have a similar story. Last summer I was at a flea market and found a dealer that had two no-name sneaky petes. They both were decent cues that you could tell belonged to a serious player at one time. Ten bucks each. I bought them and then the guy said, "I have a $1,500 Meucci in the truck...

I have always said, the perfect number of cues everyone should own is between 84 and 86. Congrats on almost being there.

    Gus Szamboti Beauty

All pool cues need to look like that. And that wrap is perfect. IMO, it looks a 1000x better now than it would with a leather wrap.

    Humidity

Ensure your sump pump hole(s) is/are fully covered and sealed. Depending on the location of your table, dehumidifier, and sump pump, your dehumidifier could be making things worse. Specifically, if your table is between the two, you could de drawing humidity out of the sump pump hole and all...

Moving to a heavy playing cue

Every time I have a cue made, I always told the builder I need 19.0 to 19.5 oz. All my cues were around that. Then, just within the past year or so, I bought an old 16 oz Brunswick cue from a thrift store. I bought it because it was really cheap. When I got it home, I cleaned it up, fixed...

Chris “THE MAGICIAN” Melling Does It Again … More Amazing Shot Sequences

Yeah, "The Magician" should be reserved for Efren. How about the "Melling the Sorcerer"? I think a decent sorcerer could give a good magician the wild 7.

    Judd Fuller 94 cue blemish

Another option is to get a can of goof off paint remover, dab a little on a Q-tip and try to remove one little spot. Don't press too hard or you'll go through whatever finish is on the cue. If that small experiment spot drys ok, then do the rest. I would try it. Worst case is you screw it up...

    Judd Fuller 94 cue blemish

I would bet money neither are cracks. The smaller one looks like a scratch. The larger looks like a sharpie mark.

    Gorst Magic Rack

Yup, I can remember when the goal was to smash the rack as hard as you can, pop the cue ball in the air a foot or so, and squat it near center table. That was fun to watch and to try. Then some nerd starting thinking about where the one ball will end up. It was all downhill from there.

Sold Bobby Hunter 4 point with veneers

Beautiful! I didn't know Bobby was making cues with veneers. 40 years ago, Bobby didn't have to lose to anyone....GREAT straight pool player.

Changing wrap on a classic Adam

All cues should have white and green spec linen. This cue would look great with it. Have Proficient do it along with refinishing the Butt.

Do old Meucci cues play better than the new Meucci’s?

I believe it's hit or miss with their new cues. So it's not so much the design, but with their ability to consistently control their quality. I have two newer cues and I got lucky...they both play well and they both stayed laser straight.

Yeah, I agree. Weed and feed ain't going to hurt city gas line markings.

    Bergman-Lil John Match

Yeah, those of us who knew him knew you couldn't win anything from him. Regardless, the allure of huge spots often suckered us in to playing. A few guys made it a point to only go off for a bet or two if they were losing, just like he did.

    Bergman-Lil John Match

I can distinctly recall negotiating a spot in one pocket (10-7 for $50 a game I believe). I felt it was a fair spot and I wasn't trying to hustle or even get the advantage. Just so happens I played better than normal and won the first rack fairly easily. The guy spotting me thought I played...

    Bergman-Lil John Match

Personally, it wouldn't bother me. But back when I was hanging around pool halls though, proper gambling etiquette was always winner can't quit, only the loser can quit. If the winner was getting tired or had to go, they stated it in advance (an hour or two in advance) and made the offer to...

    Bergman-Lil John Match

So how many sets do they need to lose before it's ok for them to quit? In my book, the loser can always quit whenever then want without any criticism whatsoever. ESPECIALLY when giving a huge handicap. If someone wants to get a good game and win more, they should ask to play for more. Sets...
