Pool accessories you will never buy again

I'm amazed the Sardo rack isn't in here yet. A buddy bought one and it just did not work unless your table was perfectly trained to start with. If your table is perfectly trained to start with, why do you need a special rack?

    Vegan Tip Option

No. I don't really see the point in alienating people for no good reason. You be you though.

    Vegan Tip Option

I know this thread is a breeding ground for strife, but I did promise to post an update. It's been way over 100 hours of play since I put the tip on, and have not shaped/worked the tip at all since then, so thought I'd post some pics and my final thoughts. Here is a higher res pic if you...

So I'm In Action And This Happens - WWYD?

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't keep many pool trophies, but I'd proudly display this one.

    Made it through a rack

Honestly I think that the ball in hand anywhere rule would improve straight pool, it's my biggest gripe with the rules. The only reason I haven't switched on my own is that I want any runs I put up to be "legit". It would make safety play much tougher, and make mistakes way costlier. It would...

    Cuetec Cues

Best bang for buck cue in my opinion. I used one for 20+ years until I made the switch to low deflection. Bought and tried several more expensive cues during that time, always went back to the cheap Cuetec.

2020 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

Might as well throw 35 up as a starting point. Not going to bother uploading video for that one though.

    626 is it legit?

It is a great achievement and I just do not understand. All. The. Hate. You people make me sad for humanity. This is a beacon to be celebrated, and most of you just want to tear it down. I don't get it, I am honestly baffled and deeply disappointed.

Big Question - Do you break with your main playing cue or not

I always broke with my shooter for 25+ years with no issues. I only got a dedicated breaker when I switched to a 11.75mm LD shaft, and the main reason for not wanting to break with it was to minimize wear and tear on the tip.

    Table markings for new cloth

1&2, center diamond for everything. 3, Start with a rack you will be sure to use for years, i.e. get a good quality one. Very precisely rack the balls in the triangle you will be using, with the head ball perfectly centered on the spot. I use a magic rack to get the balls perfect before I put...

Best OTC Cement for Cue Tips?

Which ca glue you pick matters less than how fresh it is. For tips I always use a freshly opened bottle, purchased from a busy retailer (walmart) to ensure it's spent the least amount of time on the shelf. After that it's for general use only, and will get a new bottle the next time I do tips.

    Gamble or Not

You sound like my ex-wife. We were just starting out, and I was making grocery money playing pool after losing my job. I was up about $800ish on the month and feeling pretty good about it, but had a bad day at -$200. When I got home, I shit you not, she said in all earnestness, "You lost? Why...

    Vegan Tip Option

Got about 20 more hours of straight pool on the asparagus tip since my last post, and tonight I won an 8-ball tournament with it. So far I'm seeing no problems with it. No deforming, no mushrooming, equivalent english, and it hasn't lost it's dome at all. I'd encourage others that like...

Looking to replace my 15yr Aramith Premiums

I don't know about the Ladon set, but I've had a set of the original cyclop skittles balls since they came out, and they are still tip top. They probably have an average of 16 hours per week on them for the last 5ish years, being used in a garage with a rough concrete floor. I had to replace the...

    Vegan Tip Option

    Vegan Tip Option

I roughed in the shape with a belt sander and finished it with a regular shaper. Inspected it afterwards and saw no mushrooming/deforming, but I don't think I played many shots on the violent end of the spectrum. Think I'm going to use it full time until it has time to show any downsides. Will...

    Vegan Tip Option

The Lexan/polycarbonate tip is considerably softer, spongier, easier to shape, and holds chalk better than my phenolic tip. As I said, it plays essentially identical to my very hard milk-dud. I don't know much about vegan philosophy, but this particular vegan requested it. I put this up as a...
