I'd bet a lot of money that the average teacher makes more than the average pro pool player.

    14.1 high runs... be honest

This is funny. I claimed my high run as "Mid fifties" precisely because I have no idea what it was. Happened when I was first getting into straight pool, and I had just assumed I'd be running 50+ every couple of sessions. Didn't seem noteworthy at the time. I was wrong.

    All hail Ruslan.....

That bugged me too, and I think they racked in error. Not a huge deal though, I don't think it changed much with regard to the end result.

    14.1 high runs... be honest

Pool is a small community. For most of us, our live pool buddies would never let us live it down if we were telling tales here.

    American 14.1.................

My pick was Alex from the start, but NOBODY was beating Ruslan. I've never seen someone that "In the zone" before. Perfect flow.

    14.1 high runs... be honest

My high run was on a 9' Brunswick. Average runs are similar on the 2 tables as well. The extra crowding on a 7' makes it tougher than you'd think.

    14.1 high runs... be honest

Mid 50s. My highest on video is 47, posted in the 14.1 forum straight pool challenge. I expect to break that this year, things are going well lately. Edit: Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pInhhUjG-k

    Choosing a new/used table

If you can find a Brunswick or Olhausen seven foot in your price range those would probably do you too. I excluded them because I've personally never seen a seven footer of either, and assumed they wouldn't come up in your search. I know they exist, but I've never seen them.

    Choosing a new/used table

I've never to my knowledge played with them. Funnily enough my rails need replacing and I am planning on building my own. I may or may not have been thinking about stealing the ridgeback design...

    Choosing a new/used table

Yes. For a few weeks... then on the furniture grade table the bolts are going to start to work a bit loose. The slate is going to slip a bit. The rails are going to shift a hair out of line. Before you know it everything is just a bit off. With my valley, I have to level it twice a year. Once...

    Choosing a new/used table

For playability I think you're stuck with Valley or Diamond. If I were you I'd remain patient and keep waiting for the right deal. Maybe expand your search radius a bit, a few extra hours driving might really increase your options.

how many balls have you hit?

Good question. I'ma try to ballpark it. The last 5 years I've averaged about 15 hrs/week. I'd guess about 100 balls per hour playing mostly fast opponents (maybe a bit less, but it makes for easy math), so 250 weeks x 15 hrs/ week x 100 bph = 375000 balls hit. Before that I had taken about 7...

Why is slow nap cloth no longer used?

I think the big reason is that it's just not as fun. Faster cloth gives you way more options with way less effort.

brand new Schon shaft won't fit a new Schon butt?!

So, to summarize the thread: Don't get a Schon. Got it. Honest question: In this day and age, why get anything new that isn't uni-loc? Aren't you just setting yourself up for compatibility issues?

Trouble with extreme right or left English...

I honest to god have no idea what you're talking about. I tried about 20 different shots in as many situations as I could come up with, and extreme right and extreme left seem identical to me in every way.

Let's see your setup (with a twist)

I use it without autofocus and just set the focal length to infinite. For whatever reason it switches back to autofocus every time I restart the computer, so I have to remember to change it before I start recording.

Let's see your setup (with a twist)

I use a higher end logitech webcam mounted to my garage ceiling, plugged into a laptop, running (free) OBS software to record. I haven't tried streaming but it looks like it would be trivial to do from OBS. This is a sample of the quality, think I record at 720 because 1080 crashes my dinosaur...

    Predator cue stained

That really looks like smudged black felt pen. Try isopropyl alcohol to remove it. Have you played on a table recently where the had just redrawn the lines on the table? Maybe rubbing from a corner pocket that had it's dye "touched up" with felt pen? Try the alcohol. If it comes off it was...

    Where is the 626?

This. When you accepted the condition of the table before you started playing, you accepted any idiosyncrasies that come with playing on that table. If it's pooping balls back onto the table when shot at speed, tough luck, you agreed to use that table.
