    76th World 14.1 TV SCHEDULE Day 1-3! Hohmann,Schmidt,Appleton,Immonen,Shaw,Orcullo

This must be what it was like for sports in the 1920s! Messenger boys running back from peaking over the fence. This is almost as much fun as watching the match, and if I want to see some yelling and screaming I can just go upstairs and go talk to the wife.

Should Earl be ejected given the "evidence"

I just don't see the conflict, though. It's not like this is a rare occurrence. It happens at all levels. I probably happens at least every other match I play. Someone say "14 in the corner". OK, I know he's playing a combo and he's not shooting at the 14, but seeing what he's doing and knowing...

Should Earl be ejected given the "evidence"

The letter of the rule is a slam dunk in favor of Earl. In the second video, the TD says that the ref was clear in his head Earl was shooting for the 10. The rule was satisfied. Frankly, Shaw comes off looking very bad in all of this. Throwing a fit because you couldn't game the rules a 2nd time...

yesterday (9/10) was a sad day for billiards!

Maybe you should actually read the rule.

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

Do you have a reference for that? I remember seeing something like that somewhere and couldn't remember where, though I think it's obvious from the rule I did post that this should be the correct call regardless.

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

Here's right from Jayson's facebook post: Even Jayson knows Earl was playing the 10. Come on people, just look at the table. There's no shot on the 2. I'll bet that if we did a poll, guys over 45 or so would think the shot was good, and guys 25 and younger would think the shot is bad. I say...

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

They played like we do today. The refs, who were usually decent players and knew what was going on, would call out the shot for the benefit of the crowd. Some of them were quite annoying!

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

Second time I'm posting this. Here's the actual rule: ********************* 1.6 Standard Call Shot In games in which the shooter is required to call shots, the intended ball and pocket must be indicated for each shot if they are not obvious. Details of the shot, such as cushions struck or other...

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

And it was a crap ruling the first time around too because as I understand it, it was a clear case of simply misspeaking but the intended ball was obvious. It's really pretty shameful behavior on Shaw's part.

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

What rules are they playing by? Here are the WPA rules on calling shots: ********************* 1.6 Standard Call Shot In games in which the shooter is required to call shots, the intended ball and pocket must be indicated for each shot if they are not obvious. Details of the shot, such as...

Corey Deuel's famous draw shot, and other options

I missed that. Do we know that's what he was actually trying to do? That would make perfect sense.

Corey Deuel's famous draw shot, and other options

Personally, I would have probably played it high-left. I personally don't like being on the right side of the 9&5 because if I end up on the rail, I have no choice but to follow and I'll end up who knows where with. If I end up on the rail and I'm on the left, at least a forced follow probably...

Corey Deuel's famous draw shot, and other options

Isn't the point of the video that it's a hard shot to execute, and to look at alternatives? What's the difference if he doesn't hit the shot exactly like Corey? You can watch Corey hit it if you want to see how Corey hits it.

Bizarre Refereeing situations in Mosconi Cup

"He was trying to place the cue ball, and I thought he was measuring". That's how he opened the conversation with the captain. For some reason, you left that part out when you quoted the conversation, even though that's the part that makes it pretty clear he made a mistake and was simply...

    blue diamond chalk

I currently use Master chalk. I go through a cube every other playing day (I don't like cubes that are too worn out, and the inside of Master chalk seems much different than the outside layer so I toss them frequently). Does something like Magic Chalk last considerably longer? I intend to keep...

    Pool Player culture

I'm not sure I understand this thread. What else are you supposed to do when you play pool or watch an event? Cheer? Dance? The one thing that always surprises me about this site is it's full of people that don't really seem to like playing pool. Just a lot of blather about "action" and crap...

Bizarre Refereeing situations in Mosconi Cup

That's AFTER Ken told him that he's trying to place the cue ball, but he thought he was measuring. Why did you leave out that first part that makes it 100% clear he's explaining that he made a mistake, and 100% clear that he's not discussing or asking for guidance? As soon as Karl said he was...
