    World Championship and US Open

I asked Mark about it a week or two ago. He's always free to change his mind, of course, but I don't think he's doing it again this year. It's a shame because Mark's place is very nice, and he's a real gentleman.

    Mcdermott D-11

I've never seen a D series with a black end cap.

    What's the Plan? 1

3 and 13 are still problems to me. I'd knock in the 13, and try to get on the one and then 3 (if it goes in the bottom left pocket). Maybe 13-2-1...maybe 13.15-1...seems like somehow that 3's got to go away or you need to run into the balls and take a chance. I guess you could just pocket the...

    What's the Plan? 1

I would probably pocket the stripe in the lower left and try to run into the 3, knowing I have the 8 next regardless. Then I'd reevaluate based on where I ended up. To my eye, the 3 and the 13 are the balls that are screwing it up. That said, I suck at this, so.... Looking forward to what...

    Pros don't know the rules

It was a legal break because you drove two balls and the cue ball to a rail, so it's just a regular foul. All you need to execute a legal break is 2 balls and the cue ball to a rail. Once that happens, it's no longer a breaking foul....anything after that is just a regular foul. If only one...

Would you play this break ball?

I'm a very aggressive 14.1 player....FAR more aggressive than my actual ability. I lose a lot because of it. I'd play it all day long against a weak opponent that can't reliably run 10 or more balls. I'd play safe against Thorsten.

    Pros don't know the rules

In my experience, the main source of confusion is distinguishing between a breaking foul and just a regular foul on a break, i.e. if you drive two balls and the CB to a rail, but you scratch, that's a legal break (so no breaking foul) but it's a standard foul that counts towards the three. That...

    major slump

Last piece of the puzzle came back Thursday night. It's something that I rediscovered about myself. Turns out I'm very much a rhythm player, which all gets backs to my pre-shot routine, just as you'd said. I've been concentrating on fundamentals so much that I completely threw off my rhythm...

    200 points...

Bring on the long matches. If you don't like watching pool, why are you watching? Just wait until the results come out the next day.

    major slump

Well, I don't think it accounts for everything, but concentrating on my pre-shot routine helped at a good bit. I was definitely leaving out a "step" before. I almost always used to get right behind object ball as part of my routine. For some reason, I stopped doing that. I had to think about it...

    major slump

You're the second one to tell me this. Mark Kulungian up at Pool Table Magic told me the same thing a few weeks ago. I will say that what's changed in the last couple of weeks is that I feel like I'm getting back into my normal rhythm. I get the feeling you've been through this yourself...

    major slump

Of course, you're right. I guess that's the real problem. I've completely lost confidence in my stroke, and I'm struggling to get it back. I know what it feels like to be very, very good at something, and to be confident and just work through setbacks without much trouble. I don't have that with...

    OB classic pro

I've regularly turned down jobs, not because I can't do them but because I think it's a stupid thing to do and would not want my name attached to it. The customer is always right, but the craftsman's prerogative is choosing who to turn into a customer, regardless the craft you choose...

Cue experts i have a question.

The basic process is you take the wood, immerse it in a resin (usually heat cured) and stick the entire thing in a vacuum chamber. If you want to dye it, you would add the dye to the resin. The vacuum sucks all the air out of the wood, so then when you release the vacuum atmospheric pressure...

    major slump

Can't make a ball to save my life playing 14.1. I've been playing LOUSY straight pool for weeks. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but it feels like it's in my head. I can actually visualize myself missing simple shots, and sure enough I miss them. I don't think I ran more than 5 or 10 balls...

    Turning Stone - rip off

Fargo, whether it's accurate or not, measures match/tournament performance, not spot shot drill or playing the ghost performance. If the best player in the world doesn't bring it playing a real opponent, you're not going to have a good rating.

Getting rid of my ld's for good

You might want to consider that your bridge length is well suited to the deflection a normal shaft gives you, which will automatically correct for hits which are slightly off center. Everything is a trade off. I can't play with an LD shaft. I've tried, and I'm a disaster. I think I'd get better...
