    Snooker cues

Top makers include John Parris, Mike Wooldridge, Jason Owen and Trevor White. I've also heard nothing but good things about Thai cues like Maximus and Phoenix. Standard specs would be 17-19oz, 9.5mm tip and 57/58". Mine is a little on the heavy side at 19.5oz.

best cue you ever had or still have ???

Currently, it's my custom Peradon. Thinking of upgrading to a Mike Wooldridge or a Jason Owen if I ever need to, but for the time being, I'll stick with my current cue.

Best hand tool for fixing mushroomed tip?

I've seen people get great results with a very sharp razor from a hobby knife or a scalpel blade.

Tell us about your "cue journey"

At the moment, I'll be sticking with my custom Peradon for English pool – for the next few years, anyway. If anything does happen to it or I have loads of cash set aside for a new cue, I may splash out on a Jason Owen or a Mike Wooldridge Black Legend.

    Sporty 8b shot........................

Jordan is phenomenal. Absolutely my favourite pool player. Only in blackball rules. Potting both balls would be classed as a foul under world rules. But I do see where you're coming from. Blackball rules would be the general standard for competitive play.

lol FORUMS ANY OTHERS LIKE AZ

The only other cuesports forum I know of is TSF, which is snooker related, but I'd like to join more ones centred around pool, especially English pool. I guess /r/billiards also works.

What do you prefer to break with? Heavy or light?

Light. Mine is 16oz. Playing cue is 17.5oz.

$1000 max, what's your playing cue?

Mike Wooldridge Black Legend specced for English pool.

Why a full time butt extension may be better than the alternatives.

Not every cue has bolts, though.

which type of side pocket is easier?

I'd say I could still pot balls faster on a tight Diamond pocket than a rounded pocket on an English pool table.

which type of side pocket is easier?

    I'm talking about pool tables.

which type of side pocket is easier?

I think it's easier to pot balls at shallower angles on middle pockets on English pool tables than American ones, since the snooker-style pockets have less of a jaw to miss, but it's easier for balls to actually pot and stay down on American tables. I hate having balls reject and swirl back out...

    Weird things players do .....

I've seen a lot of American-style pool players "pump" their cue with a closed bridge in mid-air before getting down on the shot. Always looked strange to me.

    Owning your own table.

    Not enough space.

    Cue storage

Mine doesn't break down as it's a one-piece, but I do leave it stored vertically in a case, tip side up and out of direct sunlight and warm rooms.

    Tipping on table time?

I only tip for meals in pubs if the staff are nice and the food is good. If I'm going in for a few frames of pool and a drink or two, I wouldn't tip.

Tip - what Flavor is everybody using these days

Currently have an Elk Master fitted on my snooker cue and an Elk Pro on my English pool cue. I'll be replacing both with ADR147 laminated tips in the near future.

How do you win from here ???

Pot the object ball with check side to leave the black to the left pocket.

    Anyone else

I have a few super soft tips ready to go onto my cue, but my current tip's in good condition, so I think I'll leave it for the time being.

Has the Open Bridge Become More Popular

Load of bollocks. The beginners I've played against tend to prefer open bridges.
