Does grip size matter to you?

I'm not sure on the width of the butt of my cue, either, but I doubt it's anywhere near the 30s. I'd say it's about 28mm–29mm. Here's an image of it compared to a block of chalk.

Using the bridge to make a bridge

I've seen Kyren Wilson do it in snooker, and as of now, it is legal. Not entirely sure about American pool, though.

My custom Jason Owen break cue arrived this morning!

I didn't think I'd love it this much, if I'm honest. There's just something about the orangey-red/dark red style of the wood that goes so well with ebony and a white veneer. Although, I have to say, I do prefer the shade on my playing cue. I couldn't have asked for a nicer padauk splice. I...

My custom Jason Owen break cue arrived this morning!

Had a bit of cash lying around, so I thought I'd invest in a break cue for English pool. Jason's break cues are highly regarded and are made beautifully. The cue on the left is my Peradon playing cue for comparison. SPECS: 58" 10mm Cue Guru tip 16oz Break cue is maple and the playing cue is...

    Basic question,

I look at the contact point on the object ball last. What I'm looking at mostly is the line to the object ball and the line from the object ball to the pocket.

ELITE Cue Tips New & Now Available Sale Price Here

Would these be any good for English pool or snooker cues? I've been looking to try out new tips for a while. I'd need to trim and shape the tip to fit my 9mm ferrule on my English pool cue, but it'd be interesting to use a dedicated American pool tip.

Why don't Snooker players use low deflection shafts?

I believe Mark Gray also uses a snooker cue for American pool. Yeah, Shaun's John Parris had an 8.75mm tip until he had half an inch cut off it. He's now using a 9mm.

Why don't Snooker players use low deflection shafts?

I'm the same. The only time I started hearing about deflection or "squirt" was when I had a look on sites such as Reddit or here on AzB with the majority of discussion being centred around American pool. I had no idea what people were on about. Snooker cues are generally tipped at around...

    Sharp points???

I've never seen or heard of it being used in main splicing, but on English pool and snooker cues, machine-spliced cues with sharp points can have hand-planed splices added for decoration below the join. I've never seen it in American cues, though, as they're nearly all machine spliced.

Bridge / Rest Use - World Snooker Championship

AFAIK, there's no rule against bridging on a rest's shaft to play an obstructive shot. Barry Stark has a video example on the same thing. Incidentally, Barry is also Kyren's coach.

What do you guys do when you get carded?

People here don't get carded unless they're ordering alcohol. If people seventeen or under are going into a pub for a few frames of pool and a Coke or two, there's no problem. I'm 26, but I still do get asked for ID occasionally.

    Sharp points???

To answer your second question, hand spliced cues have rounded points which are achieved by gluing the butt timber around the shaft and planing it down. The result are rounded splice peaks. I've never seen or heard of any hand spliced American pool cues, but my English pool cue is hand spliced...

To glove or not to glove

I've never used a glove. Never will. I just don't feel the need to - my hands don't get clammy or sweaty to the point where a glove is needed. That being said, I do carry a microfibre cue towel and some sheets of A4 paper (IMO, the best shaft cleaner you can use) to get the occasional layer of...

    NEW... 10mm GoCustoms shaft..

I'd say that would double as a fantastic break cue for English pool with a hard enough tip fitted. If it came available as a 3/4 or a one-piece, I'd consider buying it for snooker. Looks pretty slick. The only major downside is that it doesn't appear to have an SD joint fitted.

    Brass jointed cues

I've never seen a brass-jointed American cue. You'd usually only find them in snooker and English pool cues nowadays.

    how would ya hit it?

If that yellow ball isn't an obstruction to the opposite middle pocket, I'd be attempting a double. If it is obstructing, however, I'd just roll the 8 into the middle facing us.

If you were not allowed to Gamble on Pool would you quit the game?

I've only every played one money match before for twenty quid on a race to five frames, so, no, I wouldn't quit playing. I would have no problems playing the odd game for a bit of cash between friends, so long as it's not an inordinate amount.
