I watched more pool lately than in many years!

I don't watch any American eight– or nine–ball, I've been watching more English pool money matches in the recent year or two.

What tips and chalk is everyone using?

If you want a perfect snooker cue, I'd say your best bet is Mike Wooldridge. Offers full maple shafts and a BlackSpin ferrule. My dream cue would have to be one of his Black Legend cues. Was your Powerglide half-jointed or a 3/4?

What tips and chalk is everyone using?

Kyren Wilson has also switched to Century's titanium ferrules on his cue, but his is ash. Ash and brass is certainly what I'm used to. Out of the five cues I own, the only one that's maple and has a different ferrule material other than brass is my break cue for English pool.

Breaking off the headstring vs breaking further back with a rail bridge for 8-9–10 ball?

On smaller English pool tables that I play on, I tend to break with my bridge on the baulk rail, with the cue ball either being directly on the baulk line, or at least an inch behind it. With American pool, there is a greater distance between the line and the baulk rail. I hate using closed...

How's the Roku for snooker? Heard Kamui in general is pretty messy.

Cheap layered cue tips with free shipping

Try an ADR147 super soft or soft for snooker. Go onto TSF and you'll see nothing but praises being sung for them. I have one fitted onto my English pool cue. Fantastic tip.

dumping the break cue and feel liberated!!!

Mine's 16oz. I used to use my heavy snooker cue (19.5oz) to break off in English pool, but I much prefer the acceleration a lighter cue offers.

dumping the break cue and feel liberated!!!

I always broke off with my snooker cue (9.5mm) for English pool back when I played nearly every day on our college tables. Never had any issues over the four years. I picked up a break cue (10mm) after a while of using my playing cue (9mm) as I had some cash to burn, but I rarely find myself...

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

Heard good things about Taylor Made cues. They sound like a decent beginner/intermediate set. Gary also makes his own tips but I've never seen any reviews on them.

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

No, not Parris cues. I'm talking about Mike's ones. Or maybe I thought you meant Mike when you were referring to John. My mistake lol. Yeah, I have seen a lot of hit or miss reviews concerning Parris cues.

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

I'll be placing an order for a Jason Owen cue within the next few months. I ordered an English pool break cue from him last year, which I love, but I'm wanting to get another English pool cue, and will be using my Peradon as a backup. Specs will be 56", 17oz and 8.75mm, with an ADR147 SS tip...

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

Some people are saying he's the worst? I've been trawling through reviews of Mike's cues for the past two years and I've never seen anyone post a poor review on any of them.

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

Lovely cue. Never was a fan of the short, stubby splices on hand spliced 3/4s myself, but you really can't go wrong with a John Parris. I love the look of that ash shaft, though.

    Custom Snooker Cue

My dream cue is a Mike Wooldridge Black Legend specced for English pool. One-piece, 56"/57", 17oz, 8.75mm tip Would love to have one.

    Gorgeous. What are the specs?

Importing snooker cue from the UK (warping concerns?)

Get a Halo-style aluminium case. Preferably an unbranded one as they're cheaper. Cue Craft do the best ones money can buy but they're probably out of your budget. Green Baize has a cheaper option with Tomahawk cases, though. Heard good things about them...

    How McDermott makes cues

Thinking of ordering from them sometime down the line? Their cues are a little on the expensive side as far as the average price of a snooker cue is concerned, but you can't really fault the quality.

    How McDermott makes cues

Peradon. I use one of their custom cues for English pool. Great company. They're the oldest cue makers in the world.

    How McDermott makes cues

Fascinating process. Never actually saw any video of American cues being made. Totally different to English pool and snooker cue production.
