As long as they thread and don't bind then you should be good the female threads are usually a little deeper than the pin length. I'd use flat face on a piloted if that was all I had.

Personally I don't like to use flat face on piloted joints but some say it works fine. Sounds like you have a plan.

For sure the case is nice which suggests the cue is no junk. Can you remove the bumper? Maybe early Viking? It almost looks like a nylon insert in the shaft which was used by heubler.
