    As noted earlier the mr clean sponge works great. Leaves the shaft looking almost new and super smooth.

    I would say it's all about attention to detail that elevates to custom made, even in a custom makers "series" the level of detail usually exceeds factory manufacture.

    You should be able to leave them in a temperature controlled home closet indefinitely in an upright position. In a case would be best.
