    Goodbye APA, it's been fun...

I agree on all your points. I played for 15 years or so in the early 2000s. It was fun. Met some really good people. Met my wife. Of course there were a few who couldn't stop whining about theirs or someone's handicap. Nothing the League or Operator can do about that. Its the people not the system.

Need some advice on staging an amateur event.

It might be interesting to try the Swiss System used in Chess tournaments. Where the length of the tournament can be decided by the number of entries, how many tables and how much time is available. Say a minimum of 5 rounds. The good about a swiss tournament is everyone plays every round. And...

Playing up against better players-advice please

Playing 8 ball or 9 ball is not particularly good practice. Here is what I you should do. Use your league nights and tournaments to identify your weaknesses. Take notes. Write them down. Use your practice time to practice your identified weaknesses. And always practice your fundamentals. Body...

How to check if a table is setup correctly

The guy I'm buying from is putting new Simonis 860 electric blue cloth on the table. So it will be taken apart and put back together. Also he will be hauling it 400 miles, presumably in some type of trailer. Good questions. I will be asking and verifying. Thanks.

Private pool club - how many members for a 6 table club?

I did some planning for a new room about 20 years ago. It didn't work out. Anyway the numbers I was using were 270sqft for 9ft table and 230sqft for 7fters. This is just for the tables with no overlapping space (because I don't like it when the table space overlaps with adjacent tables). You...

How to check if a table is setup correctly

Where I live the closest room is 50 miles away and the guy who does their tables doesn't like to travel. lol. The guy I'm buying from is a known dealer but lives 400 miles from me, so this will likely be a one shot deal.

How to check if a table is setup correctly

Good one. I am wondering if I need to check if the rails are parallel. I guess it would depend on any slop in the bolt holes for the rails.

How to check if a table is setup correctly

So, lets say a table mechanic installed and setup a new table at your house. What would you do to check if the setup is "good"? What is good? The goal is to find significant issues before the guy leaves and not find out after playing on it for days/weeks/ect.

    Table size factors?

But they are relatively the same, or proportionate (proportional?). Meaning on either a 9ft or 7ft table, if I shoot from the second diamond nearest me to the first diamond across from me the ball with go in the corner pocket. No different. The distance between the diamonds does not matter. What...

    New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Hi. I just got my posting privileges. So here I am. I currently live in NorCal. I've been playing since my dad bought a table when I was a teenager. I didn't play much on it but it introduced me to the game. When I traveled in the service I would play in bars on bar boxes. Fast forward and I...
