2022 World Pool Masters (May 5-8)

Long way to go - it is tough for anyone in any sport to maintain their top form day after day, year after year - but I have no doubt he will win many more major events. Shaw and SVB are at his level but, for different reasons and in different situations they can both lose their touch and run...

    Appleton Suspension?

    I like it.

Pron Props to Filler for the win. Incredibly boring though.

    2022 World Snooker Championship (Apr 16th - May 2nd)

...and this is one of the great things about the game in an informal setting. Both players are dancing around each other all the time. Bottom line - it's a game, and a social one.

    2022 World Snooker Championship (Apr 16th - May 2nd)

Alex Higgins did it now and again, but to be fair that was probably Alex being Alex and nothing to do with strategy. Steve Davis might well be correct with his analysis but I doubt it's any more than a marginal advantage.

Realistically, what should promoters focus on when it comes to pro pool?

Spot on. I can remember at least one golfer being banned from the US Tour where the money is huge. He just went to play on the European Tour where the money was less huge but still crazy for what (like pool) amounts to a recreational activity, a diversion. I don't follow golf anything like...

    2022 World Snooker Championship (Apr 16th - May 2nd)

I watched a bit of the match. Can't remember exactly which part of the match it was as I was multi-tasking, but some of Ronnie's play was sublime and as good as his best. It's not easy to maintain that level for a long time and I'm not surprised if he had a bad session. He's 2 frames away from...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

I'm so happy Shane won. Secondly because now maybe people will stop rambling on about the US Open being a "World Championship". Primarily happy for Shane though as there's none more deserving.

Congratulations newly minted World Champion Shane Van Boening

Happy for whoever is the champion. They deserve nothing less.

The 9ball championships and winner break excitement.

I don't really care either and I'll watch or play whatever the organisers have decided. I just "argue" from a logical viewpoint. As with most logic in a real world context, there are differing valid perspectives based on inherent assumptions. The discussion does get repetitive but, for me...

Go to next tournament and play his game. These guys have seen it all from both sides.

    Funny observation about league players

It's a lot easier than being a "pro" who has to turn up at tournaments whether he feels like it or not because potential ranking points or his sponsors dictate his schedule. For many league players, it's their one night out each week and a break from the daily grind. Pool is the hook but it...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

Fair point but let's not lose sight of the fact that it rarely happens. Big comebacks are exciting for sure but so is watching a player win a tournament when he's gone hill-hill or close in every single match - drama is drama! And while everyone is talking about SVB's comeback from 3-10, nobody...

    Funny observation about league players

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 everyone misses, particularly non-elite good players who will occasionally play a shot that makes them look lile a rookie. Nobody deliberately loses to go to the losers side - it is better to go there late rather than early. Yes, there are those egos who say they are happy to...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

True enough, but you lose some epic slugfests when you "go" to winner breaks. Hence, this one off match isn't really an argument for either format. But yeah, it's pure drama and great for the game . Great comeback, which will be remembered for a long time if Shane wins this.

    9 ball wwyd

I don't like the safety option here - this is a stone cold opportunity for an easy runout (there are lots of ways to get shape on the 8 and plenty of wiggle room if you over or under hit it). But I think you are on the money about 8 ball. While "if you can't run 7 don't run 6" should never be...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

I'm not a fan of the purple 5 and don't "like" it, but I'm over it. The fact that both Predator/CSI and Matchroom have a $60k first prize within weeks of each other is a pretty strong indication that World Championship prize money will reach 00s levels pretty soon. One side of me couldn't give a...

Has Europe Passed Asia at Pool?

You would benefit from losing this attitude. I would never expect anyone who grew up in the USA, and identifies with the USA, to play for my country (in any sport) just because they have lived in my home country for a long time and made it their home.
