Seems there a thread every week or so about changing 9 ball rules away from the dozen or so accepted rule sets. I noticed they didn't change the 1pkt rules when Cory used the smash break . Might be different if he ran 8 and out repeatedly.

Why is a hard break required in 9ball is the way I understood the inquiry. Edit- because one guy figured out how to win with a soft break and it was not thought of as entertaining to watch I think is answer.

9 ball is a very popular game. It seems odd so many want to change it so drastically or even commit to a particular rule set. If they're trying to create a more difficult game that requires a more complete demonstration of cueing ability , 1pkt it the obvious choice.

What is there to fix in 9 ball? It's not broken. It's just an inferior game. A basic rotation game for those that can't play full rack.

Nah. I dabbled in my youth and don't have any interest. I play in bars and pool rooms , that stuff is everywhere. I don't drink at home or when I go out to dinner. Just when I'm shooting pool. It's a difficult association to break.

In the area there is the Aquarium and the history center. There's Blind Willie's blues bar over in Virginia Highland if you care for that sort of thing. There's also the Bodies exhibit up the street near at Atlantic Station. Plenty of things to do around there depending on what you're up for.

There's a locadl 9ft table here with carom cloth that is very fast. I like to play 1pkt on it. It'll take me a few racks to adjust. Never considered a new tip but the shorter tip gap , fuller hits and just dialing back the stroke are all solid advice.

It wouldn't be surprising. My buddy owns a pool room and I have the good fortune of being able to buy @ wholesale. When I got my CF a revo was 449 wholesale / 499 retail . The Cynergy was 249 wholesale / 399 retail. I thought it interesting.
