RC, I see what you're talking about. Even in their own materials on their site, the boxed (computer render?) pic has slightly different fonts than the photos below it. Now I can never unsee it and must check my own balls.

good idea! I didn't think to check that before. Unfortunately that QR code only takes you to their homepage, www.dynaspheres.com

I emailed Dynasphere for more information the Tungstens, still waiting on a reply. They are listed on the Van Ooy Billiards site, described with a single word, "new". The box in the picture is in the style of Dynasphere's current line up, which differs from the box I have.

RC, yeah I noticed the similarity to the Raschig nine ball set. Apparently you could also order this "Aramith" set with numberless balls bringing it even closer to the Raschigs. longhorn2, these balls weight about 3 grams more than my Aramith Premiums but I can't really tell a difference in how...

Nice! I've been interested in a 9 ball set. Is there anyone making those now? A quick search only turned up an Aramith 9 ball set sold by a single store in Germany.

Regarding the broken seal on the Dynasphere Tungstens I received, I received a response from Willie Olhausen saying that all of the seals on the boxes they received were broken, and it happens with their Aramith sets as well. If you end up ordering a set, expect a broken seal. He did say they...

With shipping, $63. If you google Dynasphere Tungsten the first result should be where I got them from, and it looks like they've raised the price a little.

The Dynasphere Tungstens came in the other day. I've really been enjoying them. They play well, the colors are beautiful (even my non-playing wife approved!), and they have been highly resistant to chalk stains. Interestingly they don't appear on the Dynasphere website. I've emailed them for...

I had considered some sort of wire frame, similar to a ball return or what I've seen on some snooker table pockets. I like the glass tube idea as well. The problem I see with these vertical designs is that they make it more difficult to access the balls if you want to play with them.

Thanks! That was quite informative. I do wonder though if it could be made simpler by skipping the dado groove and just using the drill pressed dimples. Also, that's a lovely collection! I'm also jealous of all that wall space. A good portion of my room is taken up by windows (which are...

bfriesth, this may have been addressed in an earlier post but did you make those shelves yourself? I'm starting to get into woodworking and I've been thinking about making some ball shelves and ball boxes. If you have some plans for those shelves I'd love to see them!

Unfortunately my lead on the gumballs has come to a dead end. The auction house received it from another individual who received them from an estate and none of them have any additional information. The story about the joker ball isn't terribly exciting. I happened to be searching various sites...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Here's a little shot of part of my collection, several boxes of chalk and some single balls on a MCM mirror shadowbox. Hopefully I'll be able to add a custom set of balls designed by you to my collection! If I read the price and order size right, $25,000 for a run of 250 sets is only $100 a...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

At the moment I have 4 full sets of balls: Aramith premium (which is my normal playing set), the Gumballs and then two unidentified sets. I'm guessing these unidentified sets were from the 1950s-1980s, possibly Aramith. At some point I'm going to have to go back and dig through all of the...

I also received some balls today from a few different sets. These are all older, either clay or bakelite I believe. I was wondering if the Amarith ball cleaner is still the recommended cleaner for clay balls or is there another method better suited for clay and bakelite. Thanks! The top row...

Gumballs I'm assuming that all of you gentleman purchased your Gumballs from ebay? I don't know how useful this information will be, but my set did not come from that ebay seller. Instead I picked this one up from an online auction house doing estate sales in Suffolk, VA. Given the short...

Thank you K2Kraze and Rubik's Cube for the wealth of information and beautiful photos here! You guys have gotten me into ball collecting and to finally create an account here! Of course my wife may not be too happy as I've recently spent a bunch on setting up my pool room and getting into...
