Why Pool is devastated by the new Smoking Laws.

Success cannot be tied to smoking, maybe the joint is operated better, runs better tournaments, and gives out free drinks all the time. Also, I am a successful contractor attempting to follow every OSHA rule that applies to construction, but I would be more successful if I forced workers to...

Why Pool is devastated by the new Smoking Laws.

Hmm, No More of a fluff piece in my opinion. Over the long term, smoking is a drop in the bucket to pool decline (and it should actually be a market booster). Actual declines in pool are more easily tied to poor business management (everyone thinks they can own a pool hall and people that...

Why Pool is devastated by the new Smoking Laws.

ND will be smoke-free Dec 6 People voted for the no-smoking referendum in ND. I'll admit it costs me some money as a business owner as the new law requires all businesses to enforce smoke-free rules inside and within 20 feet of doors/air intake. I'll take that.

need advice for inventing billiards products

I'm guessing 3d printers are not difficult with my cad background, everything appears to be heading towards user friendly devices. And they are likely the road to the future. I think it would help me as a builder and a pool player, a two-fer. A 1 KG spool costs $40, can't be too bad. Not...

    Review of Renfro's Accu-Rack

what customer service? Doesn't customer service imply you are a customer or a potential paying customer? I bought a few and was very happy with the products I bought and the service I was given. I bought them not knowing if I would like them, use them, forget them somewhere, or give them to...

need advice for inventing billiards products

I am proficient in cad, but haven't programmed anything in a long time. I was thinking I'd have to get help in that regard, but I've never been afraid to try.

I was afraid that would be the answer. It is frustrating to me that it takes that kind of resources to do something. The system is broken.

need advice for inventing billiards products

OK, heres the situation. I am a full time business partner, so the more hours I put in at work, the more money I make, and I like to make money. On the other hand, I am not happy with my life if I can't spend time with the family and play competitive pool. So I do both. My mind is also...

    Kicking/banking during game...

I did not mean to make lite of someone trying to further their knowledge (sorry). I am a guy that firmly believes in systems for 1-2 rail kicks and use them in games. Sometimes I am successful, and sometimes not. Frankly, I only use the systems when I feel a little off. When I am in stroke...

    diagnosing stroke fundamentals

unintended english Actually, if I am shooting poorly, it is generally unintended english due to poor aim at the cue ball, poor eye coordination from cueball to aim point, and arm swerve (flying elbow). I agree with the usefulness of the straight in shot, and like to expect a followin or...

turkey I'm tired, stuffed, and watching football. Someone help me out on this one.

    Hitting softly but still 'firmly'?

really? Sorry, but I completely disagree. Tension in the forearm and use of the shoulder/body tension completely change the track of the cue. You have to see someone line up correctly, then jerk stroke the ball and completely miss the object ball in order to see it, but it happens. When they...

Viability of English and Low Squirt Shafts

LD Shafts Roger, I see your point and agree with 90% of what you say. Less english, less complication, more better. I play 8 ball on bar tables (only game in town normally) so my experiences are tied to bar table 8 ball. I play area shape (i.e., an place on a decent line to the next shot...

    Choking under Pressure

pressure I think it is the lack of pressure that hurts the most. If you know you are going to get to the table six times in a rack, you may not play your best. Also, pressure is not so bad if you can forgive yourself for missing. Always keep a consistent pressure on yourself by asking if you...

Viability of English and Low Squirt Shafts

How much english do you use and does that amount have a correlation with whether you like Low Squirt shafts? Do Low Squirt shafts also help with draw/follow? Do you normally use english only on certain shots, no shots, to get in line only, or to stay in line? It seems to me that english is...

A Closer look at L.D. Shafts

LD Shaft Experiment It seems to me that the experiment (or exercise if you prefer) should be set up to use the most extreme squirt for a reasonable english orientation (1 tip high, one tip side? Maybe it should be 2 tips of side?) As long as it you are using a spot that gives you repeatable...

A Closer look at L.D. Shafts

question Does it matter to the shaft where you hit the ball? The exercise appears to compare shaft versus shaft. That should allow a point-point comparison between shafts, no? If you want to guage squirt/deflection for different high/low/left/right hits, that is an interesting experiment...
