    Noise Frequency of Ball Impact

Can someone put a computer/mic by their pool table and tell me the frequency range for tip/ball impact and ball/ball impact? I'm designing soundproofing for my pool room. I'm guessing it is a relatively low freq, making it more difficult to prevent transmission through walls, but can somone...

    How straight is straight?

If a cue butt has slight variations in amount of light underneath the forearm while rolling it on a pool table, is that bad? Does a 1/16 of an inch or a 1/32 of an inch in wobble make a difference? What is a straight butt? At what point is a cue not worth buying? I always thought that if you...

    Yet Another CTE Review

Questions Randy - I am hoping to be able to make it to one of your classes, I respect your knowledge of the game and ability to teach it. I think that one important distinction is that most people are pointing out the lack of coherent information on the subject. I think it is hard to pick...

    Dead Players article on AZB

Mike-please change my original post title. Can you change the title of my original post then? I un-intentionally perpetuated this. Twice it has been the lead post when I clicked into the forum. Sorry to anyone that clicks here due to the post title.

    Dead Players article on AZB

hype While I respect you as an author and pool knowledge master, I'd prefer if you leave the hype in the gossip rags. There is a good journalistic reason not to overhype headlines. Think of the a major news source writing that "Tiger Woods is Dead" in a pieces about him loosing a tourney...

    Dead Players article on AZB

Looking at AZB main page, does anybody else think it is irresponsible reporting to have headlines such as "All but eight players dead in paris" and "Boyles among fatalities"? Hyping headlines should not involve death and fatalities.

    smoking in a pool hall?

Should be an easy solution I am not allowed to bring a gas-powered generator to charge my ipod while I'm at the bar. Bar owners are not allowed to observe the 10 second rule with your burger patty. People are not allowed to spit in public spaces or most sidewalks, or on prison guards. People...

    CTE Marketing

lost homework I have no dog in the CTE hunt, I don't think CTE should be argued in this thread, and I don't see any point in further arguments. Neither side will convince the other of the validity of their arguments. That said, I fall on the "show me the proof of CTE", the physics should be...

    Van Boening

What's with the negative replies? I didn't criticize Cuetecs, Cuetec's Aiming System, Shane, Shane's Aiming System, nor was I dumb enough to think there was an "aiming system" in the cue that would help my game. I thought I'd put up a comment that seemed worth discussing, and all the sudden...

    ??Question??

I am not an instructor I am not an instructor, so I'll pose this with a question at the end. When I miss a shot, I usually realize that I did not get my elbow above the cue. I think back and realize that my elbow was outside the shot alignment. Usually I have to consciously pull my elbow in...

    Van Boening

Shane's quote for his Cuetec cue endorsement (on the back of BD November and on the Cuetec website) proclaim cue "has better feel, better aiming system, and most importantly better control". What does he mean by "better aiming system"? Is Shane using Cuetec?

Deal gone Bad - Greg Jacklin (GWJacklin) aka Greg Jacklin

Nice Guy Greg gave me some good pointers in pool and he always seemed true to himself. I had a few dealings (buying and selling) with him and they all went good. His I-trader was also good. I feel your pain in not getting what u ordered yet, and no it isn't right. I am sure it pains Greg...

    Funny rules question

If that means you can get a 0 if your opponent runs out for 15 points, that's penalizing the guy in the chair 2 points for every ball left on the table (relative to the winner's score), which seems like a lopsided way to score.

    Funny rules question

score The shooter that pocketed the stripe and the eight ball on the first shot after the break has not successfully secured the stripe set. Therefore his opponent receives an 8 score and the shooter receives the ball score for the suite with the most balls on the table, which I assume is...

    Earl's Elbow

Interesting Interesting, but I don't place much stock in how the pros play. I know some pros played sidearm, but I don't think many people would pick that stroke up. Pool strokes and golf swings are highly individual and once one learns the muscle memory, a lot of the flaws can be accounted...

    wrap or not

wrapless I bought a couple of wrapless cues thinking I would like the increased feel, lack of smoke smell, and easier to keep clean. My problem is that my hand moves around from shot-to-shot and from chalking to shooting. Now I realize that I need a wrap because I grip the cue more consistently.
