The Grinder "shows up" to go undefeated on OTB Ladies Tour

I suppose it does make him undefeated though

Don't just practice pool, practice taking falls!

Interesting. I agree. And also I'm too small a fish to talk about the high levels of the game! But I think the exposure to pressure, the melt-downs, the heartbreak, can very easily be done wrong. One *very* successful soccer manager used to go to great lengths to ensure his young players only...

Dr Dave not on Youtube anymore?

Hope he gets the account back. Youtube must see this kind of thing often enough, and it's in their interests to keep popular content accessible too.

    Every Pocket Is Bottomless

I'm reading them in full - I'm working through them one at a time and am a little behind. He's a great writer, and I'm enjoying them a lot. Somehow he creates a slightly surreal feeling to the posts that I like very much. I've seen one political interjection so far. It's the author's...

    How do you run these?

I want to bank the 4 into the stack and carom the CB into the 3. (Probably after running off the 2 and 6, and leaving the long 5 as insurance.) This is probably wrong, overcomplicated, and an unnecessary risk. But the heart wants what the heart wants.😐

    Interesting Snooker Strategy...

At the end, until that smile, I was wondering if there was serious beef between those guys

    Aim With What?

Chin on the cue, cue touching the chest, so 4 points of contact with the cue (snooker player stance). I was surprised how big a difference that chest point of contact made for me. I know most pool players (including the old me) are a lot more upright though.

    AZB now owns accu stats

I think Youtube generally just assign the viewership revenue to the musicians, rather than the video uploader, so if the money isn't an issue it may not be a problem. I don't know an enormous amount about it, and it's been maybe 3 years since I looked at this (so there's every chance you know...

    They made a movie...

I suppose a remake of the Hustler would expect to make more money than anything new. I hope they don't do it though 😭 Something that tried to capture Fats' personality could work, if trying for offbeat and interesting, rather than Hollywood blockbuster. Maybe something like Dyer's Fats and...

    Quick Feedback for Book

Thank you! I was working from jpegs from an old microfilm scan of the original book (the book itself is very rare), so most of the work was straightening out and cleaning up the images. I wanted to use the original scans rather than just using the extracted text (which I did get out with OCR for...

Okay, that sounds promising. I'll have a look at what kind of jobs are out there. Thank you.

Haha, I don't know how low we're setting the bar here! Thanks for sharing your experiences, it does sound a lot more interesting than the average accountancy job. Would you say it's a niche skill-set, or should general accountancy skills give me a good start? (I've been in tax all my career so I...

    Quick Feedback for Book

I've got mine now. A week and a half, even with expedited shipping! Overall, given my complete lack of experience before starting the project, it's turned out really nice. I'd be interested in what you think of the text when you've had a chance to read it.

How did you find forensic accountancy as a career? (I'm a regular accountant getting restless!)

He asked for help,I tried but.........................

That's not how I read it. I think in principle he wants the help, and he thinks Measureman has the knowledge he needs. But in practice there's a kind of cognitive pain (in a very mild form!) in doing things you don't understand or anticipate will go badly. I think it gets worse as we get older...

    Quick Feedback for Book

Thank you! Also, you got the 'real' version way faster than me! I think they must put author copies to the back of the list (I guess because they only charge the print cost). Mine are due Friday 😭
