UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

MR actually had a full field of 256 players and only four or five no-shows that I counted. Least of any WNT major that I can remember. Carlos Biado said he stayed home to cope with some recent injuries. Excellent turnout overall, and a surprising number of Asian players.

Styer loses again in the first round. He does this a lot.

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

If anyone hasn't noticed, WNT is using new Dynasphere balls. Called Titan. Press release today announced the deal. WNT claims the best yet for TV tables. Four ball is still pink, 5 ball still purple, 9 ball has the black stripe...

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

Ko's might not be entirely done. The WNT ad for the US Open in Texas pictures Ko Pin Yi. Good chance he and his brothers show up for the US open - there's no conflict with the stuff they are doing in China. Ko Pin Yi also played in a WNT event in Taipei in January, which he won. SVB, Biado...

Predator Pure chalk - chalkholders ??

It's not cheap or cheaply made. Best and most versatile chalk holder available, by far, in my view. That's all that matters to me, but mileage for the OP may vary.

Predator Pure chalk - chalkholders ??

I've only liked one chalkholder I've ever tried. Dr V's. I have several and use them regularly. Nice design and superstrong magnet. You can get leather or metal, with plastic holders in different shapes and different colors. One of them will fit the Predator Pure...

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

Strong field overall. About 60 or so who I'd call top players. A surprising number of Asian players listed. Some will be no-shows. AJ Manas, Regalario, Roda, Baoanan, Aranas, Patric Gonzeles, Marvin Assis, Harry Vegara, Alexis Ferrer, Albert Januarta, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Rondel Nalaunun and Pham...

Hoang is playing after all. Szewczyk, too.

    WNT, WPA and 2026

No SVB at the UK Open from May 26-31. No Ko brothers, Biado, Chua, either. But the field overall looks pretty strong. WNT says the following top players have signed up. They are referred to in an FB promotion as the "Top 16." Yapp Gorst Filler Neuhausen Kaci FSR Alcaide Shaw Zielinski Labutis...

Justin Bergman is on a mission

Didn't expect to find accusations of using AI on a pool forum or talk of robotic players! I'll stick to Bergman. Glad he is giving it a go, but his best bet to get on the team is a wild card due to strong, consistent performances. Nobody has a big number of points, so he will be in the running...

Justin Bergman is on a mission

Hard to find good pool records! Nobody keeps them. I use AZB in part, but it's not accurate, either.

Justin Bergman is on a mission

Good to see, but he might have to play in a few international events to rack enough points. We'll see if he's willing to travel. He hasn't so far. He's already show this year he can play with the best. Age is not an issue. He is in good condition. Let's not get carried away! Deschaine never...

Johan back at 2026 Mosconi Cup Healm

Thorpe is a cut below the top U.S. players, no doubt. Styer, in my opinion, has all the tools to be a top 25-50 player globally. He does have great fundamentals. He tries his hardest. He is very conscientious. I think he has fallen short on the mental side. His decision making is not elite...

Johan back at 2026 Mosconi Cup Healm

They are not captains, they are coaches, regardless of the title used. Coaches don't play in any other major sport, either.

Johan back at 2026 Mosconi Cup Healm

I’d have to go back and listen to his interviews. But he’s been bluntly critical of how MR has been handling the event the past few years. Besides, who, really, is Matchroom wanting for the two US wild cards. The pickings are slim. Frazer is so frustrated now she would support Bergman and...

World Pool Championship to leave Saudi!

UK is a good option, as is Fulda, Germany. I doubt this came as a big shock to Matchroom. I’d guess they knew before the Iran conflict that the Saudi staging was doubtful. Otherwise the event would have been announced months ago. They probably have been scouting a new location since January.

Johan back at 2026 Mosconi Cup Healm

Yes. He would not have agreed to the role otherwise, if you listen to recent interviews before he took the job.

World Pool Championship to leave Saudi!

Predator doesnt even sell tickets. All I know is what I saw. Lots of people attended and watched and the atmosphere was quite good. Players really seemed to enjoy it.

    WNT, WPA and 2026

Interesting to see who the WNT is promoting for the Arizona and Phoenix opens. The first promo for the Arizona Open shows SVB, Yapp, FSR, Biado and ... Joshua Filler. Filler was a bit of a surprise to me, but then, there are no competing WPA events from early August to early September. Filler...
