Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

Do you think the next revision of the WPA rules could make this more explicit? Right now the Regulations say “If a player needs a decision to be taken, the first person to be contacted is the referee. The referee will form his decision by all means that seem suitable to him.” Obviously that...

    Thoroughbred Tips

I use Dennis Searing’s Precision tips at the same price point. Excellent tips, IMO, although I can’t say they are better than Thoroughbreds (to me they are very similar).

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I think this is quite common. Even in local tournaments and league play in my area, many players call for the referee themselves (or ask their opponent if they want a referee to watch) when it may be close. The shooter is often best placed to know if it might be close. Just today I saw Arseni...

    Break Stats -- 2026 World 8-Ball Championship, April 2026

I agree - my comment was based on observation about the racks this event and a general sense that it was better in prior years. Someone would have to go back and rewatch all those matches to know if it was actually better before. Also, after I made my comment I also remembered the large number...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I’m not 100 percent certain how Ronnie or the other top snooker pros would have handled it. They always call fouls on things they control or feel (touching a ball, feathering the CB, double hits) but it’s a bit different on which ball was hit first. I saw Shaun Murphy (I think) ask the referee...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

Just so I understand, are you saying you think there were scenarios where the CB could have followed the path it did with anything other than hitting the 4b first so that absent high-speed video you would not be able to determine if it was a foul or not? As an aside, I really wish they had...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

Aside from the fact that a simultaneous hit is extremely rare, I think the path of the CB would be straight through the gap (in this case towards the foot rail) not towards the corner pocket.

    Break Stats -- 2026 World 8-Ball Championship, April 2026

I think a big factor was the bad racking they were getting. With good racks most are going to break head ball and leave a good open table. With bad racks many were breaking second ball (which tends to result in more clusters) and even with head ball they are getting more clusters. They were also...

    Thoroughbred Tips

I don’t know about this. I would be very curious to know if an average player, a top amateur or a pro could identify the brand of tip (among the good traditional layered pigskin tips of the same hardness) based on feel, CB action etc. especially if they couldn’t see the tip. People swear that...

He plays with J Flowers (like Shaw, Melling, Gomez, De Luna and others).

    Cuetec Fires Strickland

Zombie threads like this confuse the heck out of me. I thought “wait, Earl went back to Cuetec and got fired?”

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

It’s not like the referee was off looking at something else. She was looking at the shot. So all FSR could say is “hey, ref, maybe you need a different angle”! I don’t think that works!

Have you heard about Titlist chalk (by Dr. V's Custom Shop) before SVB's recent announcement?

Fedor has his new chalk at the SBE. Green and Grey.

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I would agree if there is only an area referee. If there is a table referee as here, i dont think the seated player gets to tell the ref to watch what they are supposed to be watching.

I don’t get the hate. She obviously loves the game, and is using whatever she has to make her mark. The male pool audience tends to pay particular attention to female players that they consider attractive. Ewa and Janette took full advantage of this (while playing championship level pool). I...

I was trying to nit pick - indeed the only criticism I had about the broadcast was the direction (not showing the CB). I was just trying to explain a difference that makes it harder for the Predator commentators than the WNT commentators.
