Well, yes, no, and sorta. I've found it better to not get used to too good of lighting, if you sometimes play on poorly lit tables. So what I really mean is, don't depend on the lighting to see the edges of the balls, especially if one side of the table is lit better/worse than the other side...

It's one of the few sports that you can play without losing your ice cubes, isn't dependent on the time of day nor the weather, and is easy to gamble on. It doesn't require any particular physical attributes either. Everyone can play, there for it entices and appeals to many walks of life.
