    Breakrak question

Resistance doesn't play as big a role as you might think. You never really get the full mass of a rack in resistance because no rack is ever perfect. The BreakRak I own is the weight of a 9 ball rack. The BreakRak will respond more consistently than any real rack ever could. Building...

Got some help with my T.I.P.S. practice today.

I had been working on my T.I.P.S. kick shots for about an hour and a half. I put out a few balls to double check my T.O.I. alignments in light of my new calibrations. I heard a voice behind me. "Sir, you know you ain't gonna be able to aim very well if you keep rockin your tip back and...

Diamonds are Popular Tables, What Table is Most Popular Right Now?

I understand that brass poles are also quite popular with pool players. You might want to consider putting one of them in over in the corner. :p Diamonds or Gold Crowns is fine with me. Clean is the most important thing for me. When I walk into a room I look for the cleanest one. The...

    There's writing on this table.

Dunno. Good idea though. I'll give it a try.

    There's writing on this table.

I was practicing last night on this really old Gold Crown. It had wood panel sides. I noticed there was writing all down the side of it. Some of it was faded and I did not have my glasses. I took a closer look and saw, Johnny Archer, Nick Varner, Brandon Shuff, Jeanette Lee, Robb Saez and...

    Is a Slip Stroke OK?

That is correct. If you know any old time Memphis players, ask them about Jack Hunter. He was a master of this technique.

    Is a Slip Stroke OK?

It's like this. Someone asked Jack Nicklaus about the left heel coming off the ground in the backswing. His response was this. If it comes off the ground, fine. If it does not come off the ground, fine. Just don't make it do what it is not doing naturally. If a slip stroke comes natural to...

    Tight pockets?

Absolutely. Something I used to do that will improve your accuracy and position play. I put a ball in a every pocket against the facing. I would shoot balls in without touching the ball. Then I would move the ball to the other side of the pocket against the facing. Doing that presented two...

Bobby "Cotton" Leblanc - what a life

I know what you mean. I played one place where the bouncer walked the floor with an ax handle. Back in the day, players were hard. You couldn't shake them up. They knock balls off no matter what was going on.

Checking progress with cue maker. How often?

I had a custom cue made once. The original agreement on delivery date was 6 months. A year and a half later when I was presented with the cue it wasn't even what I ordered. Don't let it go on for too long.

    TOI: Offset Aiming

First let me say, I am a victim of ghost ball. After 38 years and many millions of balls made in practice, I can say that ghost ball is not suited for everyone. Hitting balls until it becomes instinctive (it looks right) is also not the best way. Some people can do it fine. I am not one of...

What If There Were A Player Stock Market?

What you are describing sounds more like a bond issue than an equities market. A group of underwriters get together and determine the conditions and terms of the issue. There is an internal auction where members and subgroups bid on how many of the bonds their group will take. They take the...

    Tight pockets?

Absolutely. It is no different than a baseball payer swinging two bats coming up to the plate and throwing one away. The effects are only temporary. If you stop shooting on tight pockets your game will revert back to where it was in a short time.

    Draw helps pocket!

When you can make everything you can see with no spin at all, then we will talk about spin. Until then, adding variables to a shot is just chasing rabbits. You will not improve your shot making ability.

    Tight pockets?

I once asked Buddy Hall that question. He answered with an emphatic NO. He said you want to practice on something that fills you with confidence. You want to feel like you can make everything. Many years ago I used to practice with pool balls on a snooker table. Didn't do squat for my...
