Alright Scott, you guilted me into getting the new older looking timer;);););). Depending on how brownish the almond color looks I may just go stock with its cover or may get the oak plate.

I'm almost there! I received the Wilsonart laminate (English Oak) from Lowes on Friday. and laminated the top. It turned out well. I also used rexus31 and muskyed suggestion to apply the carpet with carpet tape in the cans. Seems like it is holding well so far. I'll get a photo...

So I have the laminate on order and it should be arriving in 2 weeks. Lowes sells smaller sheets (3'X8') for $80. I'll have a lot left over but I couldn't find a scrap anywhere. I have finished the case with stain and 3 coats of Minwax Polycrylic semigloss. All that is left is to apply the...

Yes we used to have our cat’s litter box behind the door. Now she’s too old to make it down the stairs so I covered it up. At some point I’ll replace the door.

They both say Schedule 40 but the SDR 26 version is a thicker walled (and therefore smaller ID) pipe. Still hurts!😒😒😒

    "Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher

Just so not the point. I derive a lot of satisfaction from all aspects of the designing, problem solving, building and finishing. I taught myself autocad for the design, had to figure out the mechanics spacing and belt lengths, etc. I’m sure I could have hired a carpenter to build it too but...

So after I discovered the mistake of the wrong PVC, I took a break from the project to regain my sanity, and rebuilt the can deck correctly. Then I took several scrap pieces of oak and started to work on the color for the stain. After several attempts I found one (Minwax Honey) that is close...

Which Ball Cleaning Machine is the best in the market today?

Just out of curiosity, why did you get rid of the Clean Gleem? I'm building a Diamond like polisher ( AZ Thread titled -"Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher) and had looked at buying a Clean Gleem.

Live and learn! So previously I posted a photo of the top Plywood with the cans attached. I laminated the top with Formica, flush cut the edges and was pretty pleased with the results......until.......I dry fitted the cans with carpet, the Diamond Star insert, and 8 pool balls. I was too...

OOOOHHH!!!!! I like it!! What do you think about 15 vs. 30 minute timers. How long does everyone typically polish their billiard balls for??

    "Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher

All right everyone, I'm starting to think about the electrical for the timer to run this beast of a motor. (Dayton Split-Phase Belt Drive Motor, 1/3 HP, 48 Frame, 115V AC Voltage, 1,725 Nameplate RPM Scott (and Diamond) used something like the following Intermatic timer. But that looks too...

And the prize (sorry there isn't one other than the accolades of having the first correct answer) go to kitsap. Not sure what or if I was thinking at the time but after switching the pulleys the platters spin like a dream....

Ok everyone, a quick quiz...... What is wrong with the above 2 photos?????? Scott and Glen can't play right now because 1) They are both too busy laughing, and 2) Scott was kind enough to point out the error of my ways! I'll post the answer in a while if no one gets it😂🤣😂

No, I’m on board with the idea, but honestly asking for advice on how to accomplish it. Thinking if I did the two rings stacked it might work, just not sure how I’ll do the leather wrap on the top ring, or if the glue will hold the two together strongly enough.

    "Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher

Ok, assuming that I can cut a wooden ring out to glue the leather to, then how would I attach it to the Formica top? I’d rather not see screws/ fasteners. Maybe two stacked rings, one screwed down and the second one leather wrapped on top and bare wood on the bottom to glue to the first ring...

    "Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher

I’m working on the wooden motor mount. I’ve countersunk four tee nuts into a 7“ x 7“ three-quarter inch thick piece of plywood. I plan on gluing and screwing it into the case using 9- 1-1/4” screws. Each screw will go into the 3/4” thick oak case 1/2 inch. Hopefully that is enough to hold...

    "Antique" Diamond Ball Polisher

I'm thinking of painting the top 1/2" of the inside of the cans black and just leaving the edge alone.

They are 12” platters and 10” openings that line up edge to edge so the spindle is offset by 1” from the center of the can. Is that the same as yours?
