    Emily Duddy

I just saw that Emily finished in the 7-8 position at the women's US open. This is a huge upgrade in her game over the past several years. Nice job Emily. I saw some video of her playing a few years ago, and she has really improved her game. It's nice to see someone make these kids of gains...

    Most reliable AZ Patrons

After reading a thread on here that turned into a mudslinging contest that lacked much legitimate knowledge, I realized that there were people on here whose posts I almost never like to read, but that there are also those whose posts are filled with positive, insightful info that is always...

    Wrist splint for stroke training?

I often make the mistake of radially deviating my wrist during my stroke causing the tip to move and decrease my stroke accuracy. When I can control it, my game is a few levels better, but I have struggled with it for some time now. I was thinking of using a wrist splint to lock my wrist into...

    Measles cue ball

I used to see the measles cue ball used a lot in tournaments, but haven't seen it in quite a while. I always liked being able to see the spin on the cue ball. Is there a reason for its disappearance other than marketing? Is there something wrong with the measles ball vs other cue balls?

    Drills for kids

My 8 yr old daughter has been showing increasing interest in pool over the past few years, and is at a point where she is asking for drills to make her better. I have given her two to start with which she has been doing almost daily. I am wondering what drills the instructors on here would...

    Cleaning simonis 860

A friend of mine just had his table recovered with simonis 860, and the mechanic told him not to brush the table, but instead just use a vacuum and make sure the table is covered when not in play. How would you suggest cleaning and maintaining simonis 860. Is brushing it bad? Any input is...

To play with clean balls or not?!

I just recently finished making my ball polisher (which I'll post pictures of when I get a chance), and polished up the balls tonight. The difference in the play of the balls is Dramatic! The CB looks like something from trick shot videos. It takes longer for the spin to take, then it bites...

    Such a weird game!

About 6 months ago I really committed to improving my game, and started really increasing my practice. While I saw some good improvement, the reality of a full time job and three little kids got in the way, and I had to back off my playing time to the leisurely level it is generally at. While...

Running the table: the legend of kid delicious the last great American hustler.

What a fantastic read this book was. I posted a few wks ago how much I enjoyed reading pool wars, which prompted me to buy this book in hopes of another good pool read. Pool wars was written in a to the point manner without a lot of description in the writing style, but got the point across...

How far from center do you hit the CB?

I was just watching a Bert Kinister video and he says on there that he never plays more than a tip of english, and usually doesn't need that much. We're talking about the guy who hits corner to corner draw shots with ease. He obviously has a much better stroke than me, but I usually need a...

Just finished "Pool Wars" by Jay Helfert

Whenever I come on here, I always like reading the pool stories of what happened at league night or other interesting pool related stories that pop up. That got me to thinking that I might really enjoy Jay's "Pool Wars" book, so I bought it with some Christmas money. The book starts off with a...

    Continued use of pocket reducers?

I like my table, but the one complaint I have is that the pockets are too large (5"), and whenever I go somewhere else to play, they are always smaller and throw me off. I have pocket reducers which take my pocket size down to about 3.75", and have decided to use them all the time for now, as...

    Stance

I have been taking a strong look at my fundamentals lately, and was wondering how others approach their stance. I have always just gotten into a comfortable stance that seems to be in line with the shot, with no real specifics besides that. What key factors do you look for when finding your...

    Cue case

What is a decent case for $50? We do a grab bag with family every year with a $50 limit, and I thought this would be a good idea to tell the people who got me.

    Drill to stop elbow drop

I know this is a controversial subject, but I know that for my stroke, I shoot much better when I do not allow elbow drop to occur. I was wondering of anyone out there has used any good drills to overcome elbow drop in there game. Thanks! Bill
