    Basic kicking question

Basic kicking question. I want to do a kick shot to hit the yellow ball. All things being equal, what is the highest percentage kick? A one rail kick off of the end rail to come straight at the object ball? Or a two rail kick off of the end rail and then the long rail?

Tip radius and accidental scooping the cue ball on draw shots

I know there are some common reasons that someone who scoops the cue ball when executing draw shots. But all things being equal, do flatter or rounder tips better prevent this scooping?

    Tip tool shaping question

One thing I never understood, is that it would seem for a novice, that a tip tool shaper tool would work best if one could lay it flat on the ground. But the tip tools in which you can do this with (Ultimate Tip Tool, Cue Cube) seem to be thought of much less than tip tools like the Willard...

    Bride arm tension?

Does anyone have thoughts on what is the optimal tension in their bridge arm? I think for me, when I have tension in that arm I struggle (I often don't realize until the night is over and I am at home). But at the same time, I want to be steady with bridge. Thoughts?

Jump cue preference for sidearm jumping

For those that have somewhat mastered the sidearm jump technique, has your preference of type or configuration of your jump stick changed? And if so, to what?

Thoughts on the best way to remove tension when shooting in league/tournaments?

I am much more relaxed when shooting at home but when I play in league or tournaments, I seem to have a lot of tension in my body. Any thoughts or suggestions on limiting tension when playing? I really feel if I can figure this out, my game would go up.

Stupid random question about Ultimate Tip Tool

When the abrasive insert that comes with the tool needs replacing, I can't ever seem to get one of the replacement abrasive inserts to stick to the tool. I know pretty unimportant, random question but still curious if anyone knows the solution to this.

How do you tell if your table cloth has not been pulled tightly enough?

I find myself having the same cloth as other tables I play at but it always seems that these other tables play much faster. So I am wondering if the issue could be my table's cloth was not pulled tightly enough upon installation. Is there a simple way to tell if this is the case?

Curious as to why no one plays with/without an extension dependent on the shot.

I just started trying to play with an extension added to my cue a week or so ago. I know the pros and cons of this have obviously been discussed before. The one consuming thought I do have is why doesn't anyone ever play with/without the extension dependent on the shot? Especially on bar...

If I am playing with an extension for purposes of added weight wouldn't make sense just to get a heavier cue?

I am using an 8 inch 3.35 oz extension to add some weight to my cue (from about 18.65 to 22.0), wouldn't it make sense just to get a heavier cue? (I don't really need the added length as at 5'9, a 58 inch cue seems fine to me length wise.)

Right english results on the oldest pool drill

Recently, I tried the old drill of putting the cue ball on the spot and hitting toward the middle diamond on the short rail drill to see if I am hitting center ball. I was surprised on how bad my results were. I have done this drill in years past (obviously, with much less experience as a...

Advice on how to stay down on the shot more consistently?

Big problem for me (I am guessing for many of us). Reoccurring problem for years. I might have a good night (or a good game) and successful stay down but this issue always rears its ugly head for me again. What has worked for people to remedy this?

Cloned playing cue vs cue designed for breaking

Wondering people thoughts on cloning (buying a duplicate shaft and butt that weighs pretty much the same) their playing cue and using it to break as oppose to using a cue designed for breaking (thicker diameter, harder tip, etc.).

Why do pros rarely use the dart stroke for jump shots?

I've always wondered why this is.

Are finger grooves in jump cues marketing gimmicks?

Finger grooves in jump cues puzzle me. I mean, who has there shooting hand at the same position for every shot for the dart stroke? Just wondering if others have had this thought as well.

For a conventional underhand jump shot, heels up or down?

Do people lift their back leg heel off of the ground? Do they lift both heels off of the ground? Or do they keep both flat? Just curios what is conventional wisdom or what most people do and if it varies depending on the jump shot.

In bar table eight ball, do you deliberately miss shots?

I am wondering if intentionally missing shots is a common used tactic by players in 8 ball, particularly on bar tables? (Perhaps waiting on an opponent to shoot off some of their balls).

Frustrated with my own slow play in 8 ball

I know I am slow player and I at times ask teammates if I as slow other players I am playing against who are driving me nuts with their slow play. And unfortunately the answer is yes (sometimes it's hard to objectively tell one's own pace of play). Ugh. I don't want to be like them. Not sure...
