    Tip replacement

Can anyone suggest a good person in NE Illinois for tip replacement. and possibly to ask questions about dents marks and refurnish in person. I know people will suggest proficient billiards. But I am hoping to find someone within driving range. Thanks Dan

    Who is still making JPs

I am aware that a lot of cue builders make Joint protectors for new custom cues. But who is still making JPs for a custom cue that doesnt have them. I'd like to try and get ones that match the cue. I ask because it can be a little hard looking through old posts to tell who has retired or not...

    Do leather wraps need conditioning.

Excuse me if this is a silly question. all cues i have owned in the past have been wrapless. My thinking is that other leather product can sometimes require care or product. Does a leather wrap on a cue also have recommendations? or leave it alone?

    Happy Birthday BHQ

Wasn't around on the forums when Brent was making cues. But going through old gallery photos and seeing his progression from repairs to conversions to making his own cues has been great. Haven't seen a single negative comment about him. And also have not seen any in the for sale section. that...

    Shaft wood options and opinions

So, obviously maple is the most common wood used. I assume it is because of its physical aspects, bending without breaking, flexability while also being stiff. I'm guessing also for not distracting the eye while shooting? As in its best to have a clean clear wood? Can and/or should other woods...

    Arguing with experts

I have read a decent amount of threads since i have joined these forums. And I find it funny as hell seeing people argue with cue builders when they do not know what they are talking about. Maybe it is just a matter of the way you word things, or maybe people are that full of themselves. I think...

I've been looking around the forum a bit for this, Maybe it has been discussed before or maybe a lot of you just know. I live in the chicago area, I've been to many conventions before at the rosemont center and McCormick place. Tons of Comic conventions with artists. Is there a Convention for...

    Silver in cues

I am looking for information on silver used in cue building. I know that Black Boar and McWorter use it a lot. I see in some cues silver used as a veneer or outline for ring work or boxes. I am assuming since most of what i am looking at are not cheap production cues that it isnt silver colored...

    Wood

Are there woods that look amazing but are too hard or soft for cue makers to work with? or that warp, well, or any other reason not to use them. Wood jokes accepted. Dan
