I need to shoot in a few more fargo reporting tournaments

After I stopped playing pool in 2006 a friend talked me into coming out of retirement about a year and a half ago. I don't play league but practice a 3 or 4 times a month. I have played in four Fargo reporting tournaments - The first two I fell flat on my face, then the last two I took 4'th and...

Anyone here used the Ultraskin HH (Heavy Hitters)

Wondering how Ultraskin HH are for someone that uses a lot of english?? I believe they would hold up well as far as not mushrooming, but would they hold chalk well and would a person still get the same response as with a softer tip when using aggressive english/spin ??

    Clicking sound.

I know of a cue maker years ago that produced lots of cues and they were well known for making a clicking sound on hard contact with the cue ball. I heard more than one person ask if it was a miscue even on a good shot. Was it the type of ferrule, or what would cause the clicking sound? None of...

So many tips to choose from.

The market for tips today has gone bananas and the prices are outrageous. I have tried many tips over the years and the one I feel is of the best quality, holds up great, and gives me superb control is very reasonably priced. Ultraskin tips can be purchased for around 4.20 each and they offer...

    Todays Sneaky Pete cues

I don't really understand how some of todays cues can be called a Sneaky Pete when once they are screwed together they in no way resemble a bar cue. JMTC

    Another jump cue shaft question..

I recently purchased a 3x5 cue case and in one of the tubes there was a 24 1/2" end section of a shaft. I am thinking of trying to use it to make a jump cue. My question is... do I need a ferrule on it? I plan on making my own butt for it and putting a hard tip on it (maybe a water buffalo or...

    Tube style case question.

Is there someone that makes a tube style case like my Joe Porper case which is tapered so that the cue goes in small end first rather than the cue going in either direction? Thanks Ron

    Bulletproof Recoil soft tip review

I installed the Bulletproof Recoil soft tip on my cue and shot with it several hours. Holds chalk great. Has a little different sound but I got used to that. It takes some practice to get used to positional spin. Also takes practice to get extreme draw. Overall it is a very good tip that...

    A game within the game.

Back in the day when I frequented the taverns on a regular basis I often played a game within the game. I had a habit of playing the balls in in order such as 1 through 8, or 9 through 15 then the 8 ball when I played against someone on a lower level than I was. It would be more of a challenge...

    fargo rate not changing??

After 18 years of retirement a friend talked me into playing pool again. My first open tournament that is held once or twice a month at a local bar/pool hall I fell flat on my face and was given a 397 rating. I have shot in 3 tournaments since and each time working my way closer to the money...

    Ultraskin Ivory medium tip.

I have been using the Ultraskin Ivory medium tip and really like it. It holds it's shape well, holds chalk well, doesn't need much attention, and I like the feel and sound on contact. I will be trying the Fire medium next to see how it performs.
