    A game within the game.

Back in the day when I frequented the taverns on a regular basis I often played a game within the game. I had a habit of playing the balls in in order such as 1 through 8, or 9 through 15 then the 8 ball when I played against someone on a lower level than I was. It would be more of a challenge...

    fargo rate not changing??

After 18 years of retirement a friend talked me into playing pool again. My first open tournament that is held once or twice a month at a local bar/pool hall I fell flat on my face and was given a 397 rating. I have shot in 3 tournaments since and each time working my way closer to the money...

    Ultraskin Ivory medium tip.

I have been using the Ultraskin Ivory medium tip and really like it. It holds it's shape well, holds chalk well, doesn't need much attention, and I like the feel and sound on contact. I will be trying the Fire medium next to see how it performs.

    What shaft?

I have not played competitive pool since around 2006 at which time I would say I was probably a 520 player compared to todays fargo rating. I recently started playing again at a friends pool room and am shooting a little under people in the 520 rating but improving as the rust falls off. I...

    Fargo rated tournaments.

Tonight I played in my first Fargo reporting tournament and I realize that 200 games are needed to establish a true rating. My question is this - can I still play in Fargo sanctioned tournaments even though I am at beginner rating? I don't shoot league anymore but plan to start shooting in a...

I have a Black Medium on my cheap break cue and am getting good action from the cue ball with it. I have a Black...

Curious about the value of my Meucci cue.

I believe the Meucci I have was made in the mid or late1990's ?? It is the 97-11 and has a Rainbow stained birdseye maple forearm. It was made for and sold through Mueller Pool and Darts catalog. It is similar to the HOF 1 but is a bright Rainbow stained instead of grey stained. Any idea what...

    Working with tips

Years ago I used to buy Elkmaster tips and work them up with a pliers until they were spongy before putting them on my cue. They almost had the feel of using a rubber tip and the amount of spin I could produce on the cue ball was crazy... especially when doing masse shots.

    Cue replacement

I have been looking at a couple different cues lately as I would like to replace my original cue from the 70's, and would also like to get a Break/Jump cue. I will probably purchase a cheaper McDermott to use as a backup/second cue that I can use for everyday play and keep my Meucci for...

How many still have the first cue they ever bought?

The first cue I ever bought was an Eckes cue made a few miles from here in Marshfield back in the mid 70's. I still have that cue as well as the Meucci 97-11 I bought around 2000 (give or take a few years) My Meucci 97-11 was a cue that was made for and sold by Mueller sporting goods. It has a...
