Do the Predator style sets of 4 actually lead to more upsets than one long race? I took a look at the data from the 172 matches played so far

A lot of unsubstantiated claims have been getting thrown around regarding Predator's set format for the World 10-ball Championship, so I decided to take a look at the actual data and find out the truth. The first claim I wanted to tackle: the set format leads to a lot more upsets than a single...

Predator Vantage Partial - 30", Brand New

Obviously unplayed. Exactly 30" from the black pad under the tip to the end of the shaft. Still has the Predator sticker on it but it DOES NOT come with the "V" decal. I can confirm it is a Vantage partial and you can see the tip size in the photos. Has the tiniest of roll in the center...

Never seen this before - asking the for a ref for video review

I was watching some recent Heyball tournament videos and just came across a player asking for a video review, which I've never seen before. (Start at 2:20 if the video doesn't already take you there) I'm amazed that he did it right as his opponent got on the 8 and his opponent didn't bat an...

Why are the Shurtz cues made by Bob Owen so much less desirable than the ones he made under his own name?

I feel like on average, the Shurtz cues sell for around 3x less than the ones he made under his own name. Is there something about the production process that changed? Or something else?

Tipping tournament directors - do you tip on calcutta amount as well?

Last event I played, I got third and didn't tip (didn't realize this was a thing). Got a text from the TD saying "don't forget to tip next time". Looked up some old threads on here and it looks like tipping 5-10% is reasonable, does that sound right? And is that % of tournament winnings or...

Possible to extend shaft length from 29 to 30 inches?

I know it sounds silly but I had to ask. Is it possible for a cuemaker or repair person to add an inch and change a shaft from 29" to 30"?

    2025 Seattle Open

Surprised nobody has posted a thread about this yet. 64 players and only 4 higher than 790 Fargo, but a Matchroom ranking event nonetheless. We're now down to the final 8. Edward Koyongian, the favorite with a 823 rating, has already been knocked out. Here's the bracket...

Wood vs carbon fiber shafts for top pros - I went through the Fargo top 100 to see who uses what

You can see the entire list in this spreadsheet here. Some takeaways Of the top 100, 46 players use wood, 53 use carbon fiber, and 1 uses fiberglass (Skylar Woodward) Wood is way more popular than CF in Asia. For example, 8/10 Taiwanese pros and 20/30 Filipino pros on the list use wood Carbon...

Wood identification - orig owner said cocobolo but doesn't look right

Hi all, I picked up two Carolina Customs merry widows recently, one goncalo alves and one "cocobolo", but it doesn't look like any cocobolo I've ever seen. Can any of you identify the wood? It almost looks like goncalo alves too, just with less figure and a lighter color. Or maybe bloodwood...
